I had the same problem on my 87. There is a filter screen inside the carburator by the float. I took off the float level plate and sprayed inside real good with carb cleaner and it started right up. I had already made sure about spark and fuel from the fuel pump.

We changed spark plugs transmission fluid brakes and rotors and oil change. now it wont start it seems to be getting to much gas all at once can you help please?

Well, only the spark plug change would affect the vehicle from starting. If you didn't put the wires on in the correct order after changing the plugs, then it's never going to start until this is corrected.

I received bad gas, so far they had to change my oil, fluid pump, spark plug and my car still want stay started! The bill is increasing yet they dont know what

Oil changes have nothing to do with your car not starting. You obviously want to keep it changed every 3,000 miles but changing it monthly wont make your car run better. i would suggest you take it to a dealer where they will actually diagnose and fix the problem instead of just throwing parts at it. I know dealerships have a reputation of being expensive but many times, in a situation like this, it is cheaper to go there and have it fixed correctly the first time rather than going to a "shade tree mechanic" who is just guessing and slapping parts on, at your expense, hoping he/she solves the problem. Good Luck!

Car has been sitting in garage for past 10 years, on blocks. what do you recommend before trying to start? it needs new battery.

you need drain fuel tank.fuel tank probably need to be removed and cleaned out to remove all sediment in bottom of fuel tank.remove each sparks and label them.squirt some clean engine oil down the spark holes into cylinder bores to help lubricate cylinder walls and help seal the piston rings to build up compression.replace fuel filter.best to change spark plugs and wires.check all brake hoses they more likely old cracked. i would change brake fluid bleed out all the old brake fluid out of the brake system.also change power steering fluid and change transmission fluid and filter also change engine oil and oil filter.replace the antifreeze and all the coolant hoses and radiator hose.replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.replace battery and add new full tank of gas.you should be ready go. check ignition timing also.

Car wont start

Did you change the spark plugs one wire at a time or did you pull all the wires off an then changed the plugs? If you put the spark plug wires back on wrong this will cause some of the problems you are facing. Get a $20 manual from you parts store and it will give you the diagram and steps to put the wires on correctly. good luck and get some help from a neighbor who understands car repair.

My car won't start - no previous problems with starter

Sir,

ou should put some marvel mystery oil in each cylinder and turn the engine over by hand.. Of course you have to remove all the plugs first and leave them out until you get the engine ready. let sit for an hour and repeat the process. Make sure the water and oil are changed. after you have repeated the oil in the cylinders three times. You are ready to try and start the engine. check all wiring and battery for proper function. turn the engine over with the starter. Replace the spark plugs (recommend new ones) and then try to start the engine.

The best way to start any engine that has been sitting for any time longer than a year is to flush the old gas out. Gas that has been sitting for too long will go bad unless a gas preservative was added to it. Then change the oil and the oil filter. The coolant in the engine block, and the radiator should be flush out, and only clean water she be added without the thermostat. A lot of sediment from the iron in the block and from the radiator will build up and the coolant. This a also a good time to examine all rubber parts for cracks or leaks. It's would also a good time to change the spark plugs and wires. Examine the carburetor make sure its that it free of debris spider webs or any thing else. It would ofnot hurt to change the fuel filter pre-carburetor. All this with a fresh battery, and lots of luck you're good to go.

Thanks
Good Luck
