Question about 1997 GMC Sierra
I have a 1997 GMC sierra 1500 w/ a V8 engine and i need to know how to take out the fan and the water pump to reinstall a new one and how to put the fan back in?
Remove the Fan Shroud. You have to do this with Both the Old and New Waterpump out. The fan has 4 Nuts that hold it on to the Pulley. Remove these and Remove the Fan and the Pulley. You will need the Studs off of the Old Waterpump and they are Threaded into the Small Circle that is on the Front of the Waterpump Under the Pulley. There is no Easy way to get these off. It is Tough. Then when you are done Fighting with these, Install the Studs on the New Waterpump and Install the Pump. You can do this either with or Without the Fan already put back on.
