Is the fuel pump actually coming on??? If it isn't, I would start by checking for a fuel pump relay.  This is usually located up in the engine compartment in a black box on the drivers side.  Relays are small black boxes approx 1"x1".  These have a tendency to go out just like fuses.  Also double check your fuses.  If you suspect a that a relay is bad, you can interchange them with other relays that look the exact same to see if they really are the problems.  These relays are very quick and easy to change and are very cheap.  They usually run no more than $10-15.
Any further questions, feel free to ask.

Assuming that you have power to the new pump and grounds...etc..ofcourse your fuse is good too. once youn have varified that you did get a good fuel pump. I assume that this is a 3.1 engine? you have checked all fuses? e.c.m. (computer) fuse. if you do have power and grounds then you should put a fuel pressure tester on it. (its a guage that taps into the fuel rail ) I assume that you don't have one. anyway make sure that your filter isn't plugged. **** you have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail which is located on top of the intake manifold. This supplies fuel to the injectors. The regulator has a vacuum hose to it & has direct manifold vacuum. Anyway if this regulator goes bad it could return the fuel back to the tank through the return line without building up fuel pressure to run your injectors. try blocking off the return line back to the pump.(be careful because it is a hard plastic line and could colapse) If you gain pressure and your engine will momentarily run than you could suspet the regulator. I don't know if this helps ? Also make sure that somehow that your line isn't smashed somewhere leading back up through the front.

There was lots of corrosion on fuel filter n now it has new filter, new fuel pump, new regulator n it won't start with out starting fluid once it starts it stays running, this is a 05,hino 338,

The pump should turn on for about 2 seconds with key in the on position, this to put pressure in the lines and to the engine for starting. Then when cranking, the pump should be on again. The engine computer should be signaling the fuel pump relay to turn on during these two times. If the new pump won't turn on, something is wrong in your fuel pump circuit. Check the fuse for the pump first. Then find the fuel pump relay. Hold your finger lightly on it while someone turns the key to on. You should feel a click. If it does, verify voltage is going to the pump: look for voltage on the pump wire when the engine is cranking. If no click, the circuit from the computer needs checked.

We have replaced fuel pump in a 98 ego metro LSi drove home ran fine. Now it won't start any ideas why it won't start.

Pam, was the fuel filter replaced at the same time that the fuel pump was replaced? If not, replace the fuel filter. Often, the filter will get clogged with debris. When that happens, the fuel pump will be ruined. Replacing the pump without replacing the fuel filter can ruin the new pump. It is also possible that your new fuel pump is defective. Now that most replacement parts are made in China and the third world, there is virtually NO quality control. I'm a professional mechanic and defective brand new parts are a BIG problem in this industry. Was the fuel pump relay replaced when the new fuel pump was installed? Always install a new relay, as a failing [your old] fuel pump will often damage the relay. This will cause problems with the new fuel pump. I would advise that you install a fuel pressure test gauge to the engine. This will allow you verify whether or not the engine is receiving enough fuel pressure. If the pump works but the pressure is low, also check the fuel pressure regulator. The web links below should help you.

How to Check for Fuel Delivery in Geo Metro eHow

FYI, there is also a "sock" style pre-filter on the fuel pump. This also needs to be replaced any time that you replace the fuel pump.

My hyundai excel sprint 97 will rotate but won't start?

if spark is good and engine is good test fuel works, does it?
why gue$$ are that rich>??????

here watch scotty, its not perfect he assumes engine is good.
in fact timing belts slip every day, and no engine stated, so........

cranks but will NOT start.
what was changed only makes it harder , as new parts can be bad.
guessing is real bad.
guessing can very easily compound (and confound) any problem.

Injector not working why put new injector new computer new fuel pump does it have injector relay 1987 celebrity

Check fuel pressure. Have you replaced the fuel filter on schedule? Verify that the fuel pump is getting power. Power goes through an in-line fuse, then the fuel pump relay or the oil pressure sensor. (The relay bypasses the oil pressure sensor while the engine starts, but fuel pump power goes through the sensor during normal run operation. If you lose oil pressure, the fuel pump is shut off to protect the engine.) On four-cylinder models, the fuse is in the fuse block (E PUMP 10)
The fuel injectors are connected to the ECM fuse on one side and straight to the engine computer on the other side. Check the connectors and wiring, especially at the injector.

New fuel pump new regulater .fuel pump runs but will not prime up and shut off

sounds like you hooked the hoses up wrong at the pump unit or you have a bad fuel filter...replace the filter first..then check those hoses and clamps.

1985 Chevy Blazer 4x4 2.8L V6 - engine wont start. However, when I dumped a small amount of fuel in carb - it started briefly. Is this a fuel pump issue - if so where is it located? Or can it be something...

You should see gas squirt in the carb with the movement of the linkage....if not, bad fuel pump.

2.8L Engine The fuel pump is located on the front left side of the engine.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the fuel hoses from the pump. If necessary, tag the lines to assure proper installation.
  3. Remove the fuel pump-to-engine bolts and remove the fuel pump from the engine, then remove and discard the old gasket.
To install:
Before installing the fuel pump, it may be helpful to rotate the crankshaft so that the cam lobe is on the down stroke.
  1. Use a new gasket and RTV sealant, then install the pump to the engine.
  2. Tighten the fuel pump-to-engine bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  3. Connect the fuel hoses to the pump, as noted during removal.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable, then start the engine and check for proper pump operation.

Fuel not working

should have 12 volts at pump during engine cranking. with key in "on" position, the fuel pump only gets voltage for 2 seconds if engine is not running. Read voltage during cranking. Check fuel pump relay in battery jucntion box under hood.
