When vehicle is cold radio and power window dont work, drive vehicle for 15 minutes both start to operate

I would change out the GEM module, all these systems are controlled by the GEM (Generic Electronic Module)

What is year--make--model of vehicle? If power windows won't work, look up wiring diagram for power windows, start by checking voltage and ground . I always check the basics, first. Fixing one system may or may not fix the others?

How do i operate windows with out starting vehicle.


When you want to use electronics without starting the vehicle, DO NOT put your foot on the brake pedal. Then press the start button. The car will cycle between: Basic electrics (radio, etc), all power (windows, etc.) and off.

How to complete drive cycle for a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero SR


You will need to do a 2 trip monitor drive cycle.What this means it needs to see 2 cold start up, from 60 F to operating temperature of 210F.and driven around town,for at least 15 minutes,then shut down for at least 5 minutes then driven again.Each manufacture has a precise way of doing this monitor set,from my experience go around town, your a 1997 the only monitor you dont have to set is evap.Simply explained just drive it

1999 town and country van, battery indicator light came on, stayed on, then power was lost to the van slowly- first the radio, then then abs light went on then the windows didn't work finally full display...


double check the battery terminal or wire connector if loose,go to nearest autozone to check the load test on the alternator,your alternator might loosing it already.

Ed ford falcon with electronic?(has bundle of wire to gearbox) automatic transmission. Starter motor always cranks but doesnt always engage to crank motor, mostly spins and doesnt engage or partially...


Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day time running lites, power mirrors, fast idle, rough or slow shifting, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10 PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells the computer to open the window and the computer send a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets confused strange things will happen or not happen. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

Power windows and radio stopped working same time


oliethegoali: From your description you have a problem with a component called a "SUBJUNCTION BOX" This, unfortunately is a component very few independent shops can even service because it has to communicate with another component called a Body Control Module. Unfortunately, Nearly all the new cars have Body Control Modules which require special diagnostic and programming equipment to fully service the vehicles. The independent shops still have the capabilities of communicating with the on-board computers, but few shops have the means of re-programming the new cars when components have to be changed. Reason being, the software alone, costs thousands of dollars just for one make and year vehicle. I'm sorry to say, you will need to take the car to a Ford dealer for the repair.

All of my gauges except the tachometer and speedometer go to zero after driving for 10-15 minutes. windows wont roll down a/c quits working and radio loses power?


You got an open in one of the wires that feed your ipc, radio, power windows and a/c. Look around the engine bay for a worn out wire harness where there could be cut wires. Would probably be the harness that goes from the main fuse box trough the firewall, and by the way, make shure there's nothing (wires for electric brakes for exemple) that went trought the firewall's harness gromet. People have a bad habit of cutting the harness wile fishing wires trough there.
