2005 Ford Escape XLT sputtering. Replaced spark plugs as codes said. The check engine light does NOT come back on. No codes to read. I've done some research and there seem to be a few common answers....

Replaced spark plugs as codes said. ???? What code ? No code tells you to replace anything with testing . Hooking up a scan tool checking checking engine sensor data pid's . If you don't know this your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qaulified repair shop . You could have a bad sensor , Mass air flow , a bad coolant temp sensor . Fuel system problem , fuel pressure an flow testing should be done . What are the O2 sensors doing ? are they switching from 0.2 to 0.9 millivolts ? What the fuel trims at ? Is the computer adding or subtracting fuel ?

There is a lot involved in diagnosing these computer systems , and guessing doesn't fix vehicle running problems .

After a long trip when engine gets hot, it wont start until it cools off

make sure you have 50/50 coolant and water.i would replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.replace air filter make sure engine getting fresh air.check radiator cores and front grille from debris blocking off airflow through grille to radiator.if problem continue flush out coolant system radiator engine block and heater core.water going bad cause over heat problems also.

Car stalling

How old is the air filter? Replace if dirty. Did you adjust spark plugs to correct gap when installed?

Check sensors, particually maf sensor, may need replacing or cleaning. Maf sensor is located on the intake pipe from the air filter. Can buy the cleaner on eBay, 'maf cleaner'. The maf sensor measures air flow telling the injection how much fuel to use.

Also if there is a crank or flywheel sensor, check it's ok.

95 Park Avenue Ultra dies for no reason I can find, I've replaced the crank sensor, cam ssensor, spark module, fuel filter, I've had the injectors tested, fuel pump tested, plugs & wires t

As you have probably figured out by now, you will have to treat it as a no start and troubleshoot it when it fails to start. Until you figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel to the injectors when the engine dies you have no direction to go in.

trofeo? Or toronado? Have you tested the coil and checked the cap for arcing? You also need to take a good look at the two wires below the plate where the module is attached. many times, one or both break. Do you have 12v at the terminal marked Batt on the cap?? Can't remember which terminals to jump but the plug for diagnostics should be just below the edge of the dash under/ along side the steering column.

Location of the temperature sending unit on a 1991 olds toronado

Ok, you have three sensors on this engine that work together to manage the temperature reading that are sent to the gauge. i recommend checking all three to be safe. i will list the sensors and, locations below.

1. Coolant temperature sensor- Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, above transmission bell housing, mounted in driver side end of intake manifold.

2. Engine Temperature sensor- Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, mounted on rear cylinder head

3. Temperature switch.- Under hood, center, lower engine area, above oil filter, rear of coolant temperature sensor, mounted in engine block
