How do I get a front wheel hub off a 1999 rodeo 4*4

You will find numerous videos on youtube showing the front hub assembly removal process on 4 WD vehicles. The set up on your vehicle will be similar.

Remove the front wheel and examine the hub set up you have and you will find similar configurations on other vehicles.

You will need to unbolt and remove the brake caliper first (and support it) and then remove the front brake rotor before unbolting and removing the front hub assembly and these brake components are a fairly standard set up from vehicle to vehicle.

The brake rotor on your model may not just slide off and may have 1or 2 screws on the hat section of the brake rotor that fix it to the hub assembly that need to be removed before you can slide the brake rotor off the hub. So when the wheel is removed check to see if you have these fixing the brake rotor or not .

Do not allow the heavy brake caliper to hang on the brake line when it is removed. It must be properly supported otherwise you will cause damage to the flexible brake hose that is attached to it.

Measure up the bolt sizes on your vehicle on the various components to ensure you have the correct size tools to do the job before you begin any work. If you have an 18v cordless impact wrench and a decent set of impact sockets this may help with the release of some of the larger bolts you will need to remove.

1994 ford ranger 4x4 hubs make grinding/clicking noise after taken out of four wheel drive

I think yours has the automatic locking hubs that slide over the the rotor hub. If this is the case than what has probably happened is a u-joint has gone bad and wiped out that auto hub.

Be prepared for some sticker shock on those hubs. they are not cheap. The usual fix for this is to replace the front axle ujoints and what ever hub is making the noise, hopefully just one.

I've changed rotors before but never on a 4 wheel drive. Could you tell me how to on a 1989 ford ranger?

Brake Rotor (Disc) - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Loosen the wheel lug nuts.
  2. Jack up the front of the vehicle and support on jackstands.
  3. Remove the wheel and tire.
  4. Remove the brake caliper assembly as described earlier in this section, but do not disconnect the brake hose.
  5. Suspend the caliper assembly by a piece of wire. Do not allow it to hang by the brake hose.
  6. Follow the procedure given under wheel bearing removal in Suspension and Steering for models with manual and automatic locking hubs (lines down).
New rotor assemblies come protected with an anti-rust coating which should be removed with denatured alcohol or degreaser. New hubs must be packed with EP wheel bearing grease.
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

With Manual Locking Hubs
(see Figures 2 through 17)

  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  3. Remove the retainer washers from the lug nut studs and remove the manual locking hub assembly from the spindle.
  4. Remove the snapring and spacer from the end of the spindle shaft.
  5. Remove the outer wheel bearing locknut from the spindle using 4 prong spindle nut spanner wrench, T86T-1197-A or equivalent. Make sure the tabs on the tool engage the slots in the locknut.
  6. Remove the locknut washer from the spindle.
  7. Remove the inner wheel bearing locknut from the spindle using 4 prong spindle nut spanner wrench, T86T-1197-A or equivalent. Make sure the tabs on the tool engage the slots in the locknut.
  8. Remove the outer bearing cone and roller assembly from the hub. Remove the hub and rotor from the spindle.
  9. Using seal removal tool 1175-AC or equivalent remove and discard the grease seal. Remove the inner bearing cone and roller assembly from the hub.
  10. Clean the inner and outer bearing assemblies in solvent. Inspect the bearings and the cones for wear and damage. Replace defective parts, as required.
  11. If the cups are worn or damaged, remove them with front hub remover tool T81P-1104-C and tool T77F-1102-A or equivalent.
  12. Wipe the old grease from the spindle. Check the spindle for excessive wear or damage. Replace defective parts, as required.

I have a 98 Ford Ranger and need to replace the rotors on front. It is a 4 X 4 and has that stanger cap on it instead of just a dustcap.

You will have to take the auto locking hub cap off and then remove the axle nut, and the wheel bearing to get the wheel assembly off, then you will take the bolts out of the wheel assembly that are used to hold it to the rotor.

To remove a front axle shaft 94 ford ranger remove rotor, and hub. anything else?

you shouldn't have to remove anything else, unless it is in your way, one end of the shaft should just come out of the spindle, after you beat it with a hammer...lol, but seriously, and then the other side you need a special tool it is a 2 prong fork, to pry between the tranny and the shaft, and that should get it out.

Manual lock out hubs on 92 ford ranger, cant get the rotor to come off

Have you removed the nut holding the rotor on? Remove the big nut holding the bearing in, and the rotor will come off. You will still need to knock out the rear bearing and seal.

How do i replace front wheel bearing hub assembly front wheels pop and don,t engage when trying to put it in four wheel drive

First, you have to take the rotor off. To get the rotor off you need a special tool (a hub wrench - a socket with four little prongs). Take off the clip on the the hub and then the washers (3). Use the hub wrench to remove the 2 rings. Pull off the rotor. Take the outer bearing out of the rotor. To get the inner bearing out you have to take the seal off. You can usually pry the seal off with a screwdriver. Once the seal is off, you can pull the inner ring out. Reverse procedure to put back on. Remember to put bearing grease on the hub and new bearings.
