Re: i think there is gas in my oil
The cause of gas in the oil may be several things. If the engine floods all the time or has flooded. If you have trouble starting it in the morning and fuel goes into the oil sump. If your truck has a carburator the needle is probably bad. In any case, have youe engine checked. gas in the oil is not good. Change the oil and filter. If it continues take the truck to a good mechanic that you can trust..

If you have new oil and know for sure that there is sufficient oil in the sump this is not a new problem as new oil has little refelective quality and is almost impossible to see on the metal dip stick as compared to oil that has done some work. Assuming that you are looking at the right dip stick and not the tranny one. I find that by drying off the metal and painting it with white paint ( oil Resistant ) past the full mark will help. Other than that run you finger down the stick until you feel the oil
look on dip stick you should see cross hatched area with add oil or oil full mark.if you wipe oil dip stick with a clean paper towel and dip stick look dry no sign of oil add little oil at a time see if oil level reach add oil mark or the full mark.if oil is low. low oil light will turn on if bulb is blowed but if dip stick look dry oil level could be low,add little bit at a time dont over fill.

IF YOU HAVE THE INLINE 6 CYLINDER.CHECK OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK.YOU SHOULD BE AT FULL MARK.AND NOT ON THE LOW MARK.IF SO YOU NEED ADD LITTLE MORE OIL TO GET TO THE FULL MARK.YOU CAN USE 10W 30 FOR SPRING AND SUMMER WEATHER. 5W 30 FOR COLD WEATHER COLD CLIMATE.I RUN 10W 30 YEAR ROUND IN ALL MY NEW CHEVY AND OLDSMOBILE VECHICLE HAD NO PROBLEMS.IF OIL LEVEL CORRECT YOU COULD HAVE FUEL PROBLEMS.COULD HAVE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER, BAD GAS,

If its a Automatic i presume it is, Locate the Dip Stick for your Transmission.Once located pull the Dip Stick Out wipe it off ,And toward and on the Bottom of the Dip Stick you need to Read it. It will shopw a mark (FULL) and it may tell you to Check when its Hot.If so go on a Short Drive come Back Pull the Dip stick out and if its below the Full mark ,Just buy a Funnel to fit the Small Hole the Dip Stick was It and Add a Little at a Time until it Reaches the Full Mark.(DONT OVER FILL IT) and Check to Make sure you put the Right Type of Fluid in. Your Local Parts Store Should beable to Guide you to The Correct Fluid: From The WYOCWBOY
To check engine oil level engine needs to be off, if check while engine running, oil will splash inside oil pan and all over your dip stick giving you bad reading, Check oil level with engine off and add to full mark on oil dip stick. Running engine with low oil will cause major damage to your engine. To check transmission level engine needs to be running at normal engine temp.
