Keyless remote and manuel key entry wil...

my 1099 ford taurus would not start. after several days i tried to jump-start it and could get into the card either with the keyless remot or with the key itself. also could not gain entry to the trunk. the weather had been cold and i thought it might be frozen but the last few days it has been almost 50. i know that the battery is dead but that should not stop the regular key from working. please get back to me. jf
