Question about 2002 Volvo S60

1 Answer

Turn-signal doesn't always work without playing with it

We have a 2002 S60 2.4T with 64,000 miles which we bought new as a left over. Both my wife and I are in our 60'S and never abuse the vehicle.
About four months ago the turn signal would only work if we played around with the handle. If I could figure out how to dis-assemble the aera around the switch I'm sure I could the repairs my self. I haven't been able to find a owers manual for this vehicle. The Volvo dealer
wants $250 to replace the switch which I'm hard pressed to believe that this is the problem. I've a few car in my lift with 100,000 miles on them and never had a problem like this one.

Well, a problem like this does come up every once in a while.

First of all, you'll need to remove the airbag in the center of the steering wheel. And doing so is best left to having a Factory Service Manual to tell you how to disarm the air bag so it doesn't blow off while your servicing the unit. I don't know what country you are in, but here in the U.S., many of the larger libraries have the FSM's available to review and copy pertinent pages to the work we need to do on them.

Cooll! And let me know if I can be of further help.

If you wouldn't mind, would you bump me to a FixYa? I think I got you on the right path, and I will be here to help you should you run into any issues in the repair (provided I'm not on the road traveling.).

My left turn signal turns wipes on and front signal doesn't work. Whats problem

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but are you using the turn signal properly? The turn signals are on the left of the steering wheel and wiper controls are on the right side of the steering wheel on you car.

Where is the turn signal relay for my 2008 Taurus X?

There is no relay, the smart junction box controls this function.non servicable, closely inspect bulbs and sockets, any voltage drop in the signal circuit can cause this symptom.

2002 f350 diesel 4wd super duty towing package- damaged plug cover on rear bumper for 7way trailer lights- left turn signal on truck works fine front and rear- will not work at bumper...

Always check your ground FIRST. Nothing will ever work without having a good ground between the truck and trailer. Never concern yourself with the lights not working till you've assured a good ground is existing.

Freelander w reg. 1.8 petrol, 64,000 miles on clock. when do I need to change the timing belt

If you are asking about the actual TIMING BELT and not the serpentine belt, I would check with a dealership or a local garage. The Freelander has three (3), yes--3 timing belts:

front timing belt

left side rear timing belt

right side rear timing belt

Hope this helps!

Rear Left Light

Chances are the ground wire is frayed or partially broken. You could cut the black wire on the bulb socket, crimp a new wire onto the socket side of the cut, and ground that to a bolt in the engine bay. If the ground wire was frayed somewhere, this will likely fix the problem.
