Rear door won't open

Driver's side rear door won't open. Turning key in lock causes rear window to fall, but it won't come up again. How can I open the back door to fix the window?

This is fairly common i,m afraid and there is no easy solution.:(......the lock mechanism siezes up you can try banging the door just below the hanldle while you cycle the central locking it sometimes releases it,otherwise you have to pull door panel off and then remove window regulator with the door stuck shut.then you need to basically destroy the lock with a hammer and bar to get it to release.this is not a easy job .i would recomend vw specialist or main dealer.sorry to be the bearer of bad news.hope you get on ok.

Found this wiring diagram for lift gate, if that is what we're talking about? Not only check the fuses, check fuse circuit for voltage. Use a testlite.

The rear door on my 2010 highlander says it's open and getting nuisance alarms. I know the sensor is in the locking mechanism, however that part is $400. Where is the door ajar chime so I can remove it?

Here is what another Highlander owner said: "2010 Highlander 4WD: System check panel I indicating the rear door is open, when it's not. Been to dealer 3 times. Car has 6000 miles on it. The rear door open indicator effects door locking ability with key fob as well as continual chime indicating rear door is open in conjunction with turning dome light off and on. Dealer thought it was rear door strike plate. Adjusted accordingly. This was not the problem. 3rd visit to dealer still trying to pinpoint why this is happening so far no luck. Electrical bad door sensor faulty electrical door switch this problem is very annoying and now times consuming 3 visits to the dealer and still no solution. Rear door open indicator initially made to stop by rolling down driver side window at highway speed. Indicator also made to go off when road turns to the left only. <- " moisture causing short in rear door electrical switch" maybe.

something like this. You can remove it.

So far, what I have tried hasn't worked. Guess I will have to take off door panel. But which door? Driver side door locks and unlocks with remote, with key and with inside door switch. Passenger door...

Since the driver's door gets the most use, and all circuits run through the master switch, check driver's door first and check the wiring at the hinge area for breaks.

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

2006 buick lucerne back doors won't open

My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!
