Give yourself extra time to get to work. Then start your car and allow it to sit for 5 minutes to make sure that the engine is ready to work. This means that it is warmed up, everything has been lubricated.

What light is it? You didn't say, and every light is labeled, so can you enlighten, (pun intended), me?

You might be able to look it up on YouTube, never know.

Good luck.

No heat while car is idling

Sounds like low coolant level.. If it's extremely cold out, say 10 below zero or more, it could just be plain to cold. In that case, temporarily blocking a portion of the radiator with a cardboard cutout can help,, but make absolutely sure the cardboard is in front of the radiator, between the cars grill and the radiator, and not anywhere it could absorb fuel or oil and cause a fire... Also,,, make sure it's removed when the weather warms up in the spring. But I expect you'll find your coolant is low and when the engine is at idle, you not getting good flow of heated coolant through the heater core.

No heat

There are several reasons for no heat. 1st, how is the temp gauge in the car? Is it in the normal range, or is it running cold or hot after warming up? How long does it take to warm up? 1st check the coolant level, make sure it is at the correct level, bleed system to remove any air (bleeder bolt usually located near the thermostat housing.) If that checks out ok, and the engine is not warming up, change the thermostat. If you still have a problem, the heater core may be plugged up with rust and sediment. Flushing the system may help to restore the flow of coolant to get the heat going again. Worst case scenario, system plugged beyond flushing out the crud, heater core would have to be replaced. Start with the easy stuff 1st, hopefully that will work. Good luck

I have a 1996 Maxima, when the car is moving the heater works, when it stops, even at a light it blows cold air. What could the problem be?

It sounds like your thermostat may be a bit cogged, to check it simply open your radiator cap (not reservoir) before you turn on your car in the morning when it's completely cold and leave it open & running until it reaches the normal working temp, simply look inside the radiator if water flows freely, if not the thermostat may be the problem. (remember to use eye protection and NEVER open the radiator cap if the car was running previously, even if the engine is warm only. This may cause serious burning damage) proceed ONLY if the engine is completely cold.
