If its clicking when you turn the wheal, then its a cv joint. If its making a bump bump bump noise as you go down the road and increases with speed and slows with speed then its probably a bering, It sounds like you have hit something and caused your ball joints to damage. take a board 2x4 about 2 foot long. jack up the car in the front, just enough to fit the board under the tires. At each tire lift the board and see if you have any movement in the wheal. The movement you are looking for will be up and down, not side to side. Your steering moves side to side. Your ball joints give you limited up and down rotation movement to allow your car to handle bumps. If its in access of an inch rotation then there is your problem. Depending on the car, I would probably look at salvage yards first then go to the part store and compare prices. Because some junk yards are chaging near new prices for used stuff. Also your struts may be shot also.

Front end vibration

check you springs you may have a broken spring also jack the wheel up one at a time and check the bearing hands 9 and 3 pull side to side and then up and down at 12 to 6 any excessive movement and the bearing needs changing. do this to both wheels. also check the anti roll bar rubbers all 4 of them check for splits or wear this can also make a clunking sound on bumps of any size. failing all these you may need to have your disc's checked as they may have become warped can happen if you use them alot ie hills, sudden stopping

I was wondering on a alero 99 , i replaced the brakes and a caliper and fixed my brake lines but my abs light is on but it sounds like a airplain when u drive their is no shaking or grinding in the front...

YEP BAD WHEEL BEARING WILL MAKE A ROARING LIKE NOISE WHILE IN MOTION.BAD WHEEL COULD PUT DRAG ON WHEEL WHICH CAUSE ABS LIGHT TO COME ON.YOUR WHEEL BEARING HAS THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR BUILT INTO IT.SO IF WHEEL BEARING BAD THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR PART OF ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WILL CAUSE ABS LIGHT TO COME ON IF WHEEL BEARING BAD.MAKE SURE FRONT BRAKE PADS INSTALLED CORRECTLY IF NOT. YOU WILL GET TERRIBLE WHEEL NOISE ALSO.

There is a humming sound coming from the front end of my 1999 oldmobile alero. Only happens when the car is moving. I dont hear itat idle or even when pushing the gas at idle. could it be my transmission...

Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. Hope this information helps!
