Question about 1995 Chevrolet Blazer

I need to know where the actuator for 4wd on a 95 blazer gets its vacuum from.. anyone know where it runs to?

Well the vacume starts from the engine, goes down to transfer case, then back up to actuator, then i believe back down to transfer case, than to switch.

Frontend wont lock in 97 blazer.?


Front end lock is vacuum actuated and if there is no vacuum from the shifter switch, it will not lock the front end. Make sure there is vacuum going down to the switch/valve on the shifter with it in 4wd and engine running, then find if there is vacuum coming out the other side of the switch on the tranny shift valve. On the right fender you will find the cable pull that the vacuum actuates to pull cable and put the front end in gear. Have someone watch while you shift into 4wd to see if the cable is pulled. Check there to see if there is vacuum coming to it when in gear. If there is no vacuum there then the shifter vacuum switch is bad or the line is not connected.

I have a 97 blazer 4wd i repalced vaccum switch all vaccum lines and made sure actuator cable was good lights come on like im in 4wd but diff doesnt lock in and actuator not getting vaccum


The vacuum actuator should move by hand without vacuum applied. You should also be able to see it move if you have someone switch the transfer case into 4hi/lo from 2wd and then back again. There is a vacuum switch on top of the transfer case that locks vacuum once the encoder motor engages the transfer case to lock the front axle into position, and then releases the vacuum once the encoder switches back into 2wd mode allowing the front axle to decouple. If you aren't getting vacuum, first check your vacuum lines for leaks, then check for vacuum coming from the transfer case when it's in 2wd mode.

have you checked if the vacuum actuator is working? this actuator would be found underneath your battery. you will have to take of the battery tray to get to the actuator. if you can find a way to connect the battery, once you've taken off the battery tray and start the vehicle to test the functions on the 4WD switch that would be very helpful. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO WAY THE BATTERY WILL TOUCH THE FAN OR BELT WHEN DOING THIS!! Once you've engaged the 4HI or 4LO, the actuator should be sucked in. when you've set the 2HI, the actuator should be out, to the normal position. Also check to see if the vacuum line is good, most wear with time and tear in other places. hope this helped you. Is your 4WD switch blinking or does it stay on when you change the settings? I have a 1992 blazer and the 4 wheel drive doesnt work, what are some thing s that would make this happen? but my transfer case is funtioning. because the front drive shaft will spin but the axel isnt...


most common problem we see with the s-10 is there is a vacuum actuator under the battery box this is what engages the front definitional there is a vacuum switch in the top of the transfer case when you move the shifter into 4wd there is a lever inside the transfer case that pushes on the tor on the bottom of the vacuum switch witch allow es vacuum to flow to the front engage actuator under the battery box. so with all this said, check to make sure their is no vacuum leak form the back of the intake manifold to the switch and from the switch to the actuator, if their is no vacuum leak , and when the shifter is in 4wd and their is vacuum to the actuator then replace the actuator or cable if no vacuum to actuator then replace the switch on top of the transfer case.

best guess is you have a vacuum leak to the switch, the vacuum hoses run close to the exhaust manifold and if they come out of there bracket they will touch the manifold and get burned into.

Something is wrong with the 4WD. Will engage in neutral to 4WD Lo which means the vaccum is probably working but 4WD Hi will not engage. I have tried resetting the control module as described in the owners...


what you are most likely feeling is in 4lo the transfer case drops the gear ratio and 4hi just locks the front differential in. do you know if the front axle is locking in in 4lo? i suspect you have a vacuum issue to the front actuator and this is why. there is a vacuum switch on top of transfer case that will stick and cause problems and sometimes the vacuum lines will pop off of this switch.check and see if you are getting vacuum to the actuator if not follow lines be sure one is not broken if you are then actuator is bad

I need a connection diagram for a chev blazer vacuum actuator for 4 wheel drive


The Vacuum line to the 4wd actuator from under the battery try runs along the passenger side frame to the vacuum harness that is connected to the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case, driver's side.
The 4wd vacuum switch on top of the transfer case (driver's side) will have three vacuum line, one to the actuator under the battery try, one to vent out the vacuum, and the vacuum line it self which runs up towards the firewall making it's way to the vacuum canister on the drivers fender by the brake booster.

My 2000 blazer won,t select 4wd hi/low or auto


there is a vacuum solonoid on the firewall in the middle with 2 vac lines and a 2 wire plug
thats ur problem
push the button and smack it with the handle of a screwdriver should work

How to change 4 wd motor(actuator) 1997 s10


Before changing the actuator check the vacuum lines at the vacuum switch on the left side of the transer case if they are wet with transmission fluid the the switch is bad and that will prevent 4wd from engaging.
