My 2000 lincoln ls feels like it has a misfire while idling @ stops. excelerates fine until it hits between 40- 50 mph. then has same feeling of the misfire or low power. then once it reaches over 50 mph it is fine. what is my problem? it has a v8
I have a 2000 ls 6 cylender....replaces the head gaskets, all coils and plugs runs great......my car used to buck and jumo around 40-50 mph...no longer.....do yourself a favor if you are going to replace 1 coil replace them all.....once you haver the top of the engine apart you mighnt as well replace all the coils i got all 6 for 110 on ebay brand new....also be sure to get a good valve cover gasket i recomend fel-pro
Are these vehicles both V8's? If so I'd put money on the fact that the valve cover gaskets are leaking and filling up the spark plug holes with oil. Pull the coil covers off each valve cover and pull the COP's out... If they are saturated with oil then the valve cover gaskets need to be replaced along with the saturated coils.

The fuel filter, clogged or not, will not have any
effect on determining the idle
I don't get the idle to 40mph senerio?
What does idle have to do with driving?
When your driving your above an idle!!
Disconnecting the battery, won't reset anything,
other than OBD2 MIL Lamp on the dash (Wrench)
I believe there is a good possibility you have a clogged
exhaust converter or two,and should have PO 420 or
That will be an expensive repair, and should not be
necessary ,until your car is over 12 years old
So you have other issues that caused it to melt down
inside, blocking the exhaust, and limiting you to 40 mph
The other issues have to be repaired first
On an LS, you get a couple of ignition coils go
bad a year. If you don't get them and continue to
drive for years with a misfire, you get what you have
