I have a 2004 dodge durango 5.7l with the hemi, we started it and drove it and it drove just fine til about 60 miles after we started our trip and I pushed the trottle and it acted like it lost power or was running out of gas for a second so I let off the gas and pushed it again and it went fine it did it a few more times and we drove it another 50 miles or so and the check engine light came on we got it home and shut it off went to start it again and it wouldn't start, it will turn over and act like it wants to start and sometimes start but die right after it starts any ideas what it could be??
I would start by checking the basics which are checking for spark and fuel. If you have a gauge, check to see if you have fuel pressure when the key is turned on. If you have fuel pressure, check for spark. Chrysler products are known for the crank shaft sensor to go bad and cause a no start. Also, if driving for a certain period with the pedal depressed at the same speed, the throttle position sensor will stay at that position if stuck and will cause either and driveability problem or stalling. You may wanna look into replacing or at least checking that. Good luck.

When you turn your key, can you hear the fuel pump kicking on?

I would start by inspecting and cleaning the battery terminals.

U may have a defective fuel pressure check valve in the electric fuel pump, u have the classic symptoms, to check this buy a fuel pressure test guage for your truck, about $40, the test port for fuel pressure is on the top of th engine in the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the injectors, hook up the guage to the test port and run the engine, make sure u have no fuel leaks at the hook up, then shut down the engine, the fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI, if it does the check valve is defective and you need a new fuel pump

It was the fuel pump wierd thing is we could still hear the fuel pump turning on that night but the next day we went out to work on it we couldn't hear the fuel pump turning on so we checked the fuel pressure and figured out it was the fuel pump
