Replace your gound cable. I sometimes becomes coroaded inside and will drain your battery power.

I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Recently while driving down the road at night my head lamps damned and my dashboard lights went out but came back on. What would be the problem?

Only about 30 or 40 possibilities! Sorry.
However, here are some that I have experienced or know about, NOT in order of happen most common.
Bad or defective headlight switch. Bad (or loose terminals on the) battery. Bad (or loose wires on the) alternator. A loose body plug between the engine and the car body ( usually around the firewall in side the hood by the steering column). Shorted wire or bad problem with the headlight relay under the hood of the car.
One way to check for where the problem is is to use your nose. If it happens again, raise the hood and sniff around and see if you smell anything burned. You will need a flashlight at night.
God bless your attempts.

I have a 1990 sx corolla the car won't start the reds on the dash don't even appear but my headlights work and the blinkers the battery is fine and i just changed the altinator what else could

If the warning lights do not come on and the car will not start, I would guess the key switch has failed or a major fuse is blown.
I would check the fuses first, then for power at the key switch.

91 Chevy Cavalier turns over but wont start.

I had the same problem with a '91 Cavalier recently. The Crank Position Sensor, located on the back side of the engine, was bad.

I have a 1998 chevy cavalier it has a problem with starting it dont do anything all lights are bright dome, headlights etc. but the car wont turn over at all what could my problem be?

It could be the starter. Try getting a boost and see if that starts the car. Sometimes the extra power will be enough to turn the motor over. If that's the case have the starter checked to see if it is bad.
