Can I put a pull start on a 13.5 hp electric start engine?

No, the compression on an engine that big would be to hard to turn with a cord start. I have seen people start engines using an impact driver or electric drill on the crankshaft nut.

2003 ford focus 2.3 liter cranks but won't start

  1. Fuel delivery problem: If the engine is not getting enough fuel, it will not start. This can be caused by a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel pump, or a malfunctioning fuel injector.
  2. Ignition problem: The engine needs a spark in order to start. If there is a problem with the ignition system, such as a faulty spark plug or ignition coil, the engine may not start.
  3. Engine timing: If the engine's timing belt or chain is damaged or has jumped a tooth, the engine may not start.
  4. Engine compression: If the engine's compression is low, it may not start. This can be caused by a blown head gasket, worn piston rings, or damaged valves.
  5. Engine control module (ECM): If the engine control module is not functioning properly, it may prevent the engine from starting.

Problem 5: Engine Cranks But won't Start

My car won't start

I am not sure about restart the engine, but I would check the crankshaft sensor or the crankshaft pulley...

When a crankshaft sensor has failed or is failing, certain timing problems will arise in engine function. The engine may start normally in some cases, but will cut off after a few minutes (or seconds) of operation. More than likely the engine will be unable to start at all. Since the crankshaft sensor is responsible for engine timing, the driver may experience engine backfire or irregular rpm function, if the vehicleicon1.png starts at all.

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

My car turns over good, acts like it might turn on then continues to turn. I figure it might be fuel filter since low fuel light had come on.Or could it be th fuel pump got hot and is not working properly?

common problem is turning car off with engine not reaching normal operating temp and floods engine. try this. DE-CHOKING PROCEDURE WHEN ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START
If the engine does not start, try the following procedure to start the engine using the de-choke mode.
Failure to do so may aggravate the no start condition.
    1. Depress and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor and crank the engine for 7-8 seconds. (This will clean out any unburned fuel from the combustion chamber)
    2. Release the ignition key to stop cranking.
    3. Release the accelerator pedal and start the engine. If the engine starts while performing Step 1 the engine will rev up. Immediately release the ignition key to stop cranking and remove your foot from the accelerator pedal.
^ Do not keep holding the ignition switch in the START position over 10 seconds if the engine does not start. This may result in a weakened or dead battery.
^ Avoid racing the engine or sudden take off right after starting the engine.
^ If the engine still fails to start following the De-choking procedure, have your vehicle inspected by your Mazda Dealer.

for your info there is a recall for this problem. contact mazda.
