I have a 2004 & after installing the new battery noflsh showed up, with no gauges or lights in dash working now. I cleaned termainals before installing new battery. I did hook up a 10amp battery charger at the time I was changing the battery. maybe that did it. thanks, Marvin

SOURCE: 2004 jeep grand cherokee will not start, dash

It takes very little voltage and amperage to operate dash gauges. You cannot rely on "seems" when it comes to the battery. A good battery should have standing voltage of at least 12v and be able to "snap back" from a fifteen second 200 amp load. Under load, the voltage should not drop lower than 9.5 volts. Have the battery charged and load tested before going anywhere else with this. then make sure connections are clean and tight. After you get it started, if battery was good, check starter draw and charging system operation. If it does not start, check power flow from key through neutral safety switch and starter relay to starter.

SOURCE: dash lights out and gauges not working

Is your fuses are OK, then coudl be some harnesses loss connectiosn or a wiring broke problem. I have the ZJ Series Repair Manual (1993-1998) but weight around 33 Mb (only 8W Electical Wiring Section).

Keep in touch.

2004 Chevrolet Suburban. My battery gauge isn't working?

Why did you buy three batteries? You can charge up batteries with an $19 battery charger.

You have so many electrical issues, probably all caused by the dash cam or something damaged when the headliner was replaced. You need a good auto-electrician.

Dash lights flickering & gauges bouncing on a 2004 buick regal

Dash lights flickering can be caused by a bad ground and loose connection, clean up the posts on the battery. I had this same thing and that fixed it.

The head lights and dash lights got lower, then the abs light came on. The mechanic replaced the shorted battery and all was ok but the amp gauge shows less than half off. Is the alternator going bad?

It sounds like a bad alternator. Put a voltmeter on both the negative lead and positive lead of the battery and it should read above 13volts

Won't start, even with a jump. Starter clicks. battery light glows green. Terminals are clean. When i put a charger on the battery it shows 50% or less charge. Battery gauge on the dash shows low. Not...

to test properly you will need a heavy duty induction amp meter ,if its drawing more than 180 amps renew the starter ,try a new heavy duty battery also i suspect the jump leads your using are no good either ,cheap made in china things

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

Not starting, clicks

Check and clean all connections to & from battery, as in the other ends of cables as well. Make sure starter wires are all in good shape & tight as well. When you hear that click, try to locate area or relay doing the clicking. It may just be a faulty relay. Sometimes it's as simple as removing it and plugging it back in to clean the connection. Do you by chance have a 12volt DC test light to test draw on battery?

Dash lights went out.

Check for fusible links near battery and check for underhood main fuse box.
