The flywheel may be shiny and slippery. Also the clutch may be very worn down. You will probably need to replace the clutch. While you have to remove the throwout bearing. replace that too.

Hi these clutches are actually hyraulic so first id check the oil in the clutch bowl container under the bonnet on the drivers side if you havent already, secondly you can adjust the clutch slightly under the inside of car on the pedal it has a nut you remove then just turn the thread to suit you cant miss it really, however i would be more inclined to think your problem is the clutch slave cylinder on the side of gearbox it would cause this problem when worn as oil leaks past. To locate it just look on passenger side of gearbox and follow the hydraulic hose, they are easy to replace (just unbolt) and not too expensive.

95 legacy awd with a slipping clutch

yes the problem is that the pressure plates is getting weak and doesnt keep enuf pressure on the clutch. ive replaced clutch sets on many diff vehicles and when they act like u decribe its usually the pressure plate. replace entire clutch kit and if u decent mechanically u should be able to do it. in a clutch kit they give u a diagram and directions. keep a very good note on what parts u took off where to ensure u put them back in the right place

It is on the left side hard to spot. Look below the heater hoses. Good luck, take your time and have a great day.

Second clutch slipping after only 60,000 mi. first got 121,000

SLACKEN the clutch cable. I had the same problem with my wife`s Legacy - as the clutch plate wears, the cable tightened up. It started to slip. When I asked the Subaru dealer to adjust it they TIGHTENED it even more, and said the clutch was slipping because worn out, and needed replacing. It took three minutes to slacken it off myself and the car has now done another 20,000 miles with no clutch problems. No wonder Subarus are now so rare in rural areas! The adjustment is right at the back of the engine in the middle under the firewall. You may need top adjust the "HillHolder" cable as well. DON`T PANIC! It`s easy AS
