My brake lights seems to not be working included the safety light within the window area. We tried to switch out the fuses under the hood, but that did not work. Do you have any other ideas as to what it could be.

Re: Brake lights are not working
Hi try the bulbs and under the dash on the brake pedal there is a brake light switch that when you push down on the brake pedal it moves away from the switch. un plug it and conect the two wires the lights should turn on.if they turn on then replace if not then check for the ground going to the lights.and check for any power to lights with a test light.

I know it seems that way when you turn the light switch on but the brake light doesn't work off the light switch in the vehicle. It only comes on when you press the brake pedal. Your problem is both of your bulbs for the brake light have blown. One brake light may have been working and then the other when out and that's when people probably was yelling at you that your brake lights were out! Lol. I recently ran into the same issue with my daughters car. I hope this helps.
Replace the multi-function switch in the steering column. The 3rd brake light is powered directly off the brake switch while the regular brake lights are wired thru the turn signal switch. Common problem
The shift interlock system isn't allowing you to get it out of park. Make sure you are depressing brake pedal. If it still isn't working check to see if your brake lights (all of them including the 3rd brake light in the back window) are working, If none are working check to see if a wire broke at the stop light switch down by the brake pedal otr if you have a blown fuse.
check the fuses especially the one(s) for the brake lights. have someone stand in back of car and see if brake lights even work.when you step on brake pedal, you should be able to hear a "click" that is the shift release solenoid letting the shifter come out of park. u might also have a bad brake lite switch or broken/burnt wiring coming off the brake light switch.
do you have a 3rd brake light like on that is on the roof or in the rear window? if so does it work?
the brake lights are usually a 2way bulb so just because the lights work doesn't mean that brake lights will. if the 3rd brake light works replace the brake light bulbs if none of them work including your 3 brake light. check into having your brake switch changed. that is the switch under the brake pedal. when it is pressed the brake lights come on and when released they go off. if the bulbs do not fix the problem than try the switch.
