Check the sensors on the transmission. May just be corrosion on the sensors or it may be a faulty sensor. Also, the torque converter bearing may have went bad due to the running it on low transmission fluid.
I own a 1993 Chevy K1500. Its lifted 6 inched with 36 inch mickey thompson. There is alot of tranny fluid that leaks out between the front of the tranny pan and the torque converter cover. There is a small skinny openeing between there and that is where it is coming out after the truck has been driven and is hot. Do I replace the torque converter or replace the tranny...please help ! Thank you
Do you have your owners' manual? Check the diagram there to see where the dipstick for the tranny fluid is. You generally have to check the fluid when the engine is hot. You can sometimes get help withe these things at the big box auto stores like Advance Auto. I hope this helps! Ask them to show you how to add the fluid. You could also go to the oil change place and get them to show you that any other crucial check points on your auto.
Absolutely; Automatic transmissions will slip for a number of factors but the the #1 cause is low fluid level closely followed by very old and brown fluid. Recomended fluid is MerconDexronII. Best of luck.
Check transmission Fluid with vehicle running and on a flat surface. (make sure engine is warmed up before you check. Transmission dipstick handle is usually colored "red". Engine oil is usually yellow (Must be checked with engine off if engine was running prior let engine sit in off position for at-least 2 minutes). Good Luck contact me if you need more help.
