Use a test light to check for a hot wire...what are you trying to do? If you are trying to add in an accessory, draw power from you fusebox or directly from the battery, dont try to 'rob' power from another system that may be adverselly affected!

I have a rare 01 2wd pathfinder I need to know which of the three wires is hot on the headlight harness

Here is a little detective work for you!
First, identify the color of the ground wires, and that should be the same color for nearly all of the electrical things under the hood, but pay particular attention to things like lights.
There will be one wire of that color to every light.
Next you will likely have two wires, one for high beam, one for low beam, and those can be matched. Highs one color, lows another.
None of these wires should be hot with the headlights switched off, except that, during the 2001 automobile era, some cars and trucks had driving lights that were on whenever the car was moving!
God bless your efforts.

ON ABS MODULE WIRING ON CONNECTER: THERE ARE 2 BLACK THICK WIRES AND 2 THICK SAME COLOR CODED WIRES. DOES IT MATTER WHICH ONE ON EITHER ONE?

Usually same colors mean the come from the same place. Black is ground, the others are hot. I would split the harness a bit and make sure they are the same color. Yellow stripes tend to fade to white.. Just saying.

OK 2000 Tahoe brake pedal switch which wire color is hot wire and witch wire color should feed power to brake light when you push pedal down. Also the colors at switch do not match color at bulb!

ok so unplug the thing and stick a voltmeter in it, the hot side is obvious-if neither side is hot then you know you need to start troubleshooting the circuit-I would start with the brake fuse.

Need to install radio but plugs are gone

depending on u installing aftermarket or factory radio, the plugs in your expedition dont really matter, its the ones on the back of the radio your installing that need to be there. first you have to find out which wire/wires are hot (+) and which ones are ground (-) you can do this with a very helpful tool called a test light. use metal of car to find your hot wire, then use the hot wire you just found to locate a suitable ground location, can be wire or metal of vehicle. then about your speakers, they will usually be different colors, the easiest foul proof way is to partially remove the door speakers one at a time, when you see what colored wires connect it, it will be the same ones to connect in your dash. good luck!

What color wire is the taillight/brake/signals?

With a test light see which wires are hot] with nothing on. then check with break pedal pressed, and then check again with turn signals on. This will help u isolate the hot wire to the light you are looking for.
