My 1995 4l80e trans will shift into third only when i floor it but when i let off throttle it seems to go to nutrall and help would be appreashed

run the fault codes and look for faulty servo/solenoids and TCM
it could also be a oil level or oil condition problem
I suggest a visit to an accredited auto shop specialist for a proper diagnosis before you waste money
if a new box is suggested get second and third opinion and quotes

I want to know how to replace the transmission filter on a 2000 chevrolet venture

Remove the transmission pan, after pan is removed, the filter will be clearly visible. Pull straight down on the filter in a wiggleing fashion, it will pop right out of the transmission. Install new filter, clean out trans pan and magnet inside pan. Install trans pan and add approx. 2.5 qts. of new trans fluid. Start vehicle and let it get to operating temperature. Shift through all gears and re-check fluid level in trans. Add fluid as needed.
Done!

How do I locate the transmission shift soleniod. I this a promlem I can fix? Can I get to it without dropping the transmission. Ihave access to an auto shop, or should I take it to a transmission shop?

Its located inside the trans and need to open the drain plug on the transmission oil pan with a socket and drain the oil into a drain pan, then need to remove the bolts that secure the transmission oil pan to the transmission.

Now could you to remove the bolt that holds the transmission dipstick bracket to the bell housing with a socket. You can locate the bolt from the engine compartment. Place a scraper between the transmission pan and the bottom of the transmission and break the seal loose so you can remove the pan.

Remove the defective solenoid by removing the bolt that secures the solenoid to the harness. Three solenoids control the shifting on the Jeep. All have white and yellow wiring harnesses connected to them. The solenoid to the left (towards the Cherokee's engine) controls shifting "overdrive." The solenoid in the middle controls shifts between second and third gear. The third solenoid, closest to the rear of the Cherokee, controls shifts between first and second and between third and fourth. If you know which gear your transmission is stuck in, replace the solenoid that corresponds with that gear. If you are not sure, remove all three. Additionald etalis can find in this link: Jeep Secc-21S-Automatic-Transmission-42RE

Why you askw about this? Has some symthom or fault code there?

1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2 liter, auto, 2 wheel Trans ran perfectly ...then stopped shifting from second to third. wouldn't change gears, even manually. i checked all connections into trans, checked trans...

1999 dodge 1500 5.2 will not shift to second once the engine reaches normal temperture or I shift from drive to nutural and back to drive then it will work fine untill the next time I stop. filter, fluid, shift slenoid, governor sensor have been replaced.

1966 Falcon with C4 Transmission I changed out fluid and filter

Generally, what causes C-4's and C-6's to be slugish going into gear, is the seals on the servo pistons are getting hard. The servo pistons are what apply pressure on the clutch packs, when the seals get hard the oil can blow past the piston and the clutch won't engage. It's worse when the the trany is cold and usualy gets better as the oil gets warm. You could try some transmission conditioner, the cheep stuff works as good as the high dollar stuff. Don't rev the engine to try to get it to go into gear, the clutch is trying to engage and you will burn the clutch up pack. If the clutches were replaced 3k miles ago why didn't they put seals in it at the same time?

Transmission will not shift from second to third all other gears shift including reverse, there is no passing gear shift

THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED AFTER I DETERMINED IT WAS A STUCK VA,VE IN THE VALVE BODY. I TAPPED THE TRANSMISSIN WITH A HAMMER ALL AROUND AND DROVE THE CAR EXCESSIVELY HARD TO MAKE ABRUT HARD SHIFT CHANGES, THE VALVE BECOME UNSTUCT, AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED LIKE ALWAYS I THEN HAD THE TRANSMISSIN SERVICED WITH NEW FILTER AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. ( END OF PROBLEM )
