How do you find the heater/AC fuse? It clicks but won't turn on!

I am freezing here in upstate NY. My heater/AC isn't working. One day when I turned off the car, the heater was still blasting even after I took the keys out. After I got back into the car, I pushed the "off" button a few times and then it finally turned off. Now it won't come back on! It clicks but there is no heat or fan working. :-(

There should be a 30amp HVAC fuse in the fuse box in the passenger compartment. The location should be in your owners manual.
Keep in mind you have an electronic control panel and a control module that manages the blower speed and the other controls. Either one of these components could have failed.

SOURCE: I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre that won't start.

This is related to GM's VATS security system. It treats sudden loss of power as an attempt to steal the car. To reset the system, do the following: courtesy of ***** Master ASE Technician

  • Use your key fob (if equipped) or key to unlock the doors.
  • Turn the key to the start position and release it
  • Leave key in the ON position for 10 minutes.(the security light should go out at this time
  • Turn the key to the OFF position for 10 seconds
Repeat this process 2 more times. At the conclusion, your security light should be out and you should be able to start the car.

SOURCE: MY AC/HEAT WON'T EVEN BLOW

The fuse for the blower motor is in the floor concole fuse panel (see picture below). Also below is a diagram of the fuse layout. The fuse for the blower motor will be the fuse in the number 25 position. I hope this helps and good luck.

My radio won’t turn on. My door ajar light WONT illuminate. Neither will the map lights, heater. Please help

The problem is that even if you replace fuse #2 and fuse #8 in the engine compartment, possibly restoring map lights, air conditioning, heater and radio, it is very likely some component is busted and drawing too much power through the fuses. It is possible that the bearings in the heater need oiling finally drying out after 10 years That fuse #2 handles multiple power on functions and if it is blown, you have to round up the usual suspects, i. e. test further to see just which component has truly failed..

My 2006 Chevy Uplander rear ac isn’t working. One day I turned the switch on console to off and heard a pop. Since then it won’t turn on.

Hi,
Sounds like you heard the fuse blow-out.
Have you checked the fuses for the A/c units.?
The fact that the fuse went with a big pop though, may mean that there's an underlying problem in the A/c unit.
Check the fuse & replace it if necessary.
If it blows-out again, it'll need to go to a Chevvy dealer or specialist or an A/c specialist, to find the root cause of the problem.
Best of luck.

Relays click when interior fan is on

Often the click which can be heard when the A.C. kicks in is the clutch on the A.C. compressor. Be sure that it isn't just this sound which you are hearing.
Also check the operation of the idle control valve which is supposed to raise the engine revs to compensate for heavy power drain. If this isn't working correctly, then this would explain the lights dimming under low revs.

I have steam coming out of my defroster & it smells like antifreeze without the defroster or heater even being on. What could this be? I am unable to see to drive because of a film that covers the...

yOUR HEATER CORE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ANTIFREEZE CONTINUALLY RUNS THROUGH YOUR HEATER CORE WITH OR WITHOUT THE HEAT OR AC BEING ON. THIS ALLOWS YOUR ANTI-FREEZE TO COOL ABIT WHEN IT RETURNS TO THE BLOCK.

2005 sedona won't start all of a sudden. Doesn't make a sound except for a tiny whirring sound like the feul injectors. Replaced starter...still won't start. checked all fuses...they are good....

you could just have dead cell in the battery which isn't getting enough amps to the starter,, have the battery LOAD checked,, that will tell you if the battery is actually good, just because it registers 12 volts isn't necessarily an indication that the required amps are present.

I have a 2007 chevy sliverado 1500. the ac is not working i have changed the fuse and the freon is good what else could be the problem?

This won't be a complete solution, but here's a place to start. Have the engine running, truck in park. Open the hood and stand to the side of the truck. Have someone help by sitting in the truck turning the AC on and off over and over. Your AC pump runs off your engine belt and has a clutch on it so that when you aren't using the AC, the pump doesn't turn. You should hear the AC Clutch engaging and disengaging as your helper cycles the system on and off. If you don't hear this, it's probably an electrical problem and the clutch isn't hearing the signal to engage. If you hear the clutch clicking on and off (usually a pretty discernible click) and if indeed the system is charged well with refrigerant, then I would suspect the clutch may be worn to the point that it won't engage. Either of these is a fairly expensive fix, and should probably be done by a mechanic. My truck has to be drained of refrigerant before the clutch can be changed, and if this is the case for you then that refrigerant should be captured and recycled rather than let go into the atmosphere. Also, if work needs to go this deep, filters should be cleaned and lubrication replaced as well... a mechanic will do a great job here. If it's electrical then the solution shouldn't be as involved, but nobody likes electrical work so the price is usually high anyway. :) Good luck!

Ac/and heater fan does not work . No lights on instruments

Hi, since the whole panel is dead, I would check the 40 amp HVAC BLOWER fuse under the hood. Please get back to me if either that isn't the problem or the fuse blows again.

Gas guage, AC, Heater etc .... won't work. I'm told it's not the fuses but fuse box itself. How do I remove the fusebox?

Find out which fuse it is and measure the voltage in & out of the fuse to verify what they told you.
