Burst a brake line at 110,000. Car in good shape otherwise. Is it worth making the expense for parts and labor to replace the brake line? or should I just junk the car?

i'll suggest this to you as i would anyone that's never experience abs brakes before.... find an empty parking lot and drive forward and make a panic stop. just once so you will know what the brakes will do... the buzzing sound you hear is also felt in the brake pedal ?

SOURCE: The rear brake line broke. the repair man says I

I doubt it is so bad. You see, there is a rear brake line >> there is a border, say the hoses which allow the rear suspension to move w/o breaking the lines. In my opinion all the brake pipes shouldn't cost more than 100-150EUR. In the official service, of course, you can multiply, at least here in Bulgaria. My own car, VW Jetta 84 survived the change before ~ 2 months, I was replacing the original pipes judging by the outlook. Of course, your car may differ, and you have to be careful with the brakes! Lawers: I am not responsible for anything, just trying to help!
Anyway, in my case:
- WD-40 spray
- six-sided quality wrench of appropriate size, with a small cutting, so you can pass the key over the pipe and on the nut. There are also keys with a bolt on the cutting, so you can tight the wrench on the nut.
- spare set of the tubes and hoses you will replace. I got brass ones (no more rust) for very adequate prize, under 15EUR, they were ready with the nut at both ends. Replaced even both rear brake cylinders, 5EUR for piece, but don't know your part's price.
As for bleeding, it was working, right? Either do not touch it, or detach both sides and bleed at will, while the pipes are open nothing will reach the cylinder.
After all pipes are in place, put new liquid, blow the air out of the system (it is easy, ask if in needed), and check the nuts of the new pipes. If there is a leakage, tighten gently some more until it stops.
You can fasten the new pipes with strong pigtails, putting a oneside-cut part of hose on the pipe, so that the pigtail won't press it on metal. This was my idea, but turned quite well.
As for the fuel pipe, it is even easier.
Hope I have helped, pls rate. :)

SOURCE: lost keys how do i get new keys? can i get

As long as they've (junk yard) got keys for it. Check auto parts places, for replacement, or dealer. You want the "ignition lock cylinder". If you need more info on replacing, let me know.

How much should I expect to pay to replace the vacuum brake booster ?

Call parts store for price of part. Replacement is not difficult so expect $100 to $150 labor.

Cost of upper front ball joint repair, rear brakes replaced, oil cooler lines replaced, alignment and tune up

that all depends on who does it really. Also if you do rear pads and rotors then you might have to do the e brake shoes as well. It can get complicated and expensive very quickly. Also the balljoints are very common in those vehicle so if your smart its a good idea to pay for the good ones so you get a good warrenty on the joints. The cooler lines are prob about a hour labor. All in all i would estimate 4 hours labor and between 3 to 5 hundred for parts.

As long as the body is in good shape than there should be no problem fixing a rusted brake line. They don't have to look pretty or be routed in the exact same position as the old one. In fact many times I leave the old lines in as not to disturb the other lines around them. All they have to do is work. I have fixed many brake lines in GM cars than where in mint condition and rusted out beater for less than a couple hundred dollars.

I have a brake leak beneath the rear right tire... is there a way I can find, cinch, and pour more brake fluid in order to get home

Sure. The leak in the back won't empy the front brakes, so you should be able to get home.
Don't forget the emergency brake if you need it.
Don't try to plug the leak. You would only make repairs more expensive.
You will need to replace wheel cylinder ($20), and shoes ($20) and labor ($50).

I have a transmission leak near the front axle. Is it worth is to get this fixed or should I trade in for another car? I love my Accord, but if the repair will be over $2K, then I might look to purchase...

Don't sell it but a transmission leak is not going to be 2000.00 if its a seal. you are looking 250.00 dollars Thats for both sides and parts. Trans pan gasket w/filter is about 122.00 parts and labor. I could replace the whole trans for 2000.00 so you shouldn't worry just make sure you go to a good mechanic shop. any more questions repost.happt to answer

Where can i find a manual on how to replace the brake line on a 02 chevy s10 xtreme?

I'm not aware of a particular Manual that specifically addresses Brake Line for your Specific Vehicle.
However I have replaced several "complete" and "partial" Brake Lines in my years of experience.
Specific/Pre-Contured Brake Lines for your Truck are available at most auto parts stores. Calt them for availability and prices.
However these are somewhat expensive. YOU CAN 'MAKE' YOUR OWN LINES!
Also available at these auto parts stores are two (2) tools you can buy.
1) A Brake Line Bending/Shaping Tool.
2) A Brake Line Cutting/Flaring Tool.
These tools are very easy (and fun) to use.
The auto parts stores carry "Straight" "Bulk" Brake Lines in different sizes (lenght and diameter). They also carry Brake Line "male" and "female" Brake Line Connectors. Make sure you purchase the correct diameter size Brake Line and the correct Connectors to fit these Brake Lines.
If the original Brake Line that you are replacing has viable (usable) sections and/or connectors you can use, then use them.
Take the old Brake Line off using a flare wrench.
Check your Brake Line Connectors to see if they will properly connect to your remain system.
Measure this piece with a material measuring tape (don't tell momma!). Measure the straight Brake Line and using the Brake Line Cutting Tool, cut the straight bulk Brake Line. Using the old Brake Line as a reference: use the Brake Line Bending Tool to shape the straight bulk Brake Line into the desired shape, matching as close as possible to the original Brake Line.
BEFORE USING THE BRAKE LINE FLARING TOOL:
Place the proper "male" or "female" connectors onto the line, FACING the proper directions.
Using the Brake Line Flaring Tool: Flare the ends of the Brake Line.
Connect the "new" Brake Line using the flare wrench.
Make sure you Bleed the entire Brake System.
Let me know if this helped, or if you have any additional information or questions. Feel free to contact me at FixYa.com!
ps: Make sure you clean, roll-up and put away that material measuring tape!!

Seem to have the same problem as lindag1003's with my 2001 Sentra. No heat in the car, or heat on passenger but not on driver's. Engine temp guage went above limit. Coolant was bubbling. Mechanic checked...

Parts are cheap for these cars...Problem is that labor is expensive...If you did it yourself it would cost you about 200$...Providing that the deck and the head are not warped...Tolerance is .004. If the car is still in good shape rust wise, has good compression, and not burning alot of oil,it is worth it..My advice is to find a shade tree mechanic to give you a hand ....

I believe my brake fluid leaked out of a 24 year old rubber hose

should be one line going to the back and then it tee's,somewhere by the rearend,if the lines are all rusty, should replace them, make sure that its not the master cylinder.if you look underneath it,they leak from the bottom and run down the firewall or the fluid travels down one of the lines and drips somewhere else, brake lines are solid steel tubing with flare ends on them, they come in multiple lengths, they are straight sticks, you have to bend them according to the old line that you replace, the only rubber lines are the high pressure front caliper hoses, the lines are fairly resonable(local parts store)but a pain in the **** to bend and install, also if the insides of your back tires have brake fluid on them your wheel cylinders are leaking, good luck, hope this helps, aloha from maui todd0708

Toyota camry 1993 4 cyl car the hydraulic fluid line entering the pump close to the left rear wheel got rusted and is leaking, and needs replacement. Please let me know what parts will be required and what...

Brake lines are not expensive, you can purchase different diameters, and lengths at any parts store. If the line is rusted and leaking, the rest of the brake line system needs to be visually inspected, as usually when a line rusts through, the rest of the system is probably rusting away and may also need replacement.
So, although the parts are not expensive, this is a lousy labor intensive job. The lines will be rusted at connections and difficult to separate, and brake system will have to be bled to remove all air. Your safety is of the utmost importance, so get this fixed before you drive it. To fix the one line should not cost much, to replace all the brake lines could cost several hundred $. If you can do it yourself, you can save a lot, but as I said, it's a lousy job, especially if you don' have a lift to raise the car for easier access. Good luck.
