I would check to see if you have any leaks also. But what is more important is, is this happening when the vents are on recycle air or just when you have them on fresh air. If its when the vents are on recyle air. You not only have a leak, but the gas is getting in the cab of the car as well. This is a very serious problem.

start by going to a news paper company, and get a big roal of printing paper. They give this away when the roal is almost used up. It is white and durable. Put the paper under your car and secure it with rocks or something. Run the car until the problem starts to happen. Now let it idle for a few minutes, and start looking on the paper to see if you get any gas drops. Make sure the hood of the car is closed, so it doesn't evaporate before it falls to the ground. If after a few times you still cant find the problem. Meticulously go over every inch of your fule lines. especialy around the filter. The plastic clips are very easy to break with some age. Hey guess what this could be a great time to REPLACE your fuel filter. follow the lines especialy around the top of the engine where there are a lot of rubber lines and plastic connections, that can be disolved after years of use, or days of using fuel with fingernail cleaner. DONT USE FINGERNAIL CLEANER IN YOUR CAR. THIS IS A URBAN LEGEND, AND HAS KILLED MANY CARS.. let me know what you find and how this goes.

Hi, 2002 dodge Dakota, 4.7l, got home from work and shut off. 10 minutes later, went to start and made a noise like a car makes when you try and start car when it is already started, then idle was rough,...

The chain could jump a tooth or two, but normally a chain or gear breaks. You could pull the spark plugs and check compression to find out.
It sounds like one or two injectors may have failed allowing liquid gas to flow into the cylinders.

RAW GASOLNE SMELL. 2008 Subaru Impreza saloon.

Sounds to me like an inspection of the fuel lines and fuel tank need to be done. It could need replacement fuel lines depending on how many miles you have on the vehicle

91 Maxima Gasoline odor when I first start the car

If it is running fine, the busted bolt isn't the source of the gasoline smell. The intake manifold has vacuum, so the smell wouldn't be getting out, air would be going in, and a vacuum leak would give you poor idling. The exhaust manifold wouldn't have much raw gasoline smell. But it would have loud noise if the broken bolt were causing an exhaust leak.

Check that the vapor recovery line is not broken or disconnected. The hose connectors get cracked. If that were broken, it would cause a gasoline smell after the car has been sitting, especially if it has been sitting in the sun, heat driving gasoline vapor out of the tank. It is supposed to condense in the vapor canister, but some escapes if the line is broken. If it is broken, driving would **** out the gasoline from the line and the wind would dissipate the smell.

Or it could be a leaking injector. With the injector cover off, engine idling and cool, you can visually look for raw gas around the injectors and injector rail connections.

Hope this helps.

1993 nissian p/u run rich and it running real rough

If it is a carb engine have the air fuel mixture corrected by adjusting the screws on the carb. Try also adjusting the idling.

For EFI engines see if you can check the Idle Control Solenoid Valve, have it cleaned. You can also check the oxygen sensor if it is working or not

Grand am smells like gas inside the car

I would definatly recheck the regulator to make certain you do not have any leaks.
But to be clear, you are smelling gas and not exhaust?
Also, is you cowl seal in good shape, not missing or damaged in any way?
Let me know.

95 nissan quest - strong smell of exhaust in the cabin area

The exhaust leak is almost always broken studs on the exhaust manifolds. It makes a tick noise when cold and usually goes away when the engine warms up. After a year or so, the noise doesn't go away.

Your heater-a/c air intake is at the base of the windshield through the screen on the passenger side. WHen the exhaust leaks from the manifold, the exhaust gas gets sucked into the air intake.
You can put the heater in recirc mode and it will draw air in from inside the car instead of though the outside air intake. You can't leave it in recirc for long in winter or your car will get ice or fogging on the windows from too much humidity. Take it off recirc after 10 minutes.
