Have the trans service at a shop you can trust, it should be serviced every 50,000 mi. or so. also you better chk. it before you take it there, sounds like its low on fluid might acount for it slipping. just have fluid and filter chg. if it slips after that than a rebuild or replacement is in order no ajustments will fix that.

You should be changing your transmission filter once a year no matter what. Now that I'm off my soap box. You need to ajust the bands. When you pull the filter to your transmission there are going to be some bolts. You need to find the specs to your car and transmission and ajust them. If your transmission is not toast, this could fix it very cheap and easily. Also, have you checked the transmission fluid making sure you have the correct fluid?

If it has over one hundred and twenty thousand Klm I am wondering if the transmission filter is dirty. Our car was not shifting right and I changed the transmission fluid and filter and it ran good for many months after that.

Your first mistake was to listen to a parts person at Autozone and actually buy the part he or she suggested, THEY ARE NOT TRAINED TECHNICIANS! You need to take this either to the dealer or a local transmission repair shop. In Calif these parts stores can't do the testing and can't hand out advice on vehicle repair. There is a reason why a trained automotive tech makes $30.00+ per hour and they make maybe $10.00, it is called training.

Yes the converter and bands are toasted. You more than likely need a transmission.

WITH ENGINE RUNNING A IN OPERATING TEMPERATURE.IF FLUID LEVEL OKAY.CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER IF YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED IN A LONG WHILE.A DIRTY STOPPED UP FILTER WILL CAUSE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP.CANT PICK UP FLUID.

Transmission slipping

You have a problem with the bands in the transmission. They will need to be adjusted to correct the problem. Also have the transmission filter changed with new transmission fluid. Check the fluid level in transmission first,if low add fluid and test drive. If its the same as before you will need to go to a transmission place to have the bands adjusted to correct the problem. Hope this will help you.

Ford : back the truck up 10ft put truck in neutral and disengage four wheel low. (You can't drive in four wheel low cause its a pulling gear and you won't do over 3-5 mph.)
Nissan: start truck see if it idles normal. If so rev motor and check throttle for sticking and check EGR valve make sure its not stuck open or malfunctioning when you drive it..
