If you are not planning on bringing your car to a mechanic every time you have a small problem, drop the $20 on a manual and become familiar with it. That said, your power steering is servo/electronic and does not have fluid like conventional p/s. Our Cobalts are made a little diff than other cars...most of the time it's for the best. Hope this helps !!

If it is like mine the powe steering is all electrical. Get the codes pulled and get it fixed. The problem will only get worse not better.

Yeah... this is a major GM issue. Report it to safercar.gov and your Department of Consumer Affairs. There are 197 complaints and so far 3 deaths. I think a class action law-suit is coming soon. The dealership is the only one who can fix this issue.

This is a major problem and I too have reported the issue to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Please take the time and do the same. They can be contacted online at safercar.gov or BY PHONE: Call the Hotline, Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm at (888) 327-4236 , TTY:(800) 424-9153.

If you read and google you will find over 200 more complaints. This is an issue only GM/Chevy can fix. Report it to www.safercar.gov and the Department of Consumer Affairs. I have been battling this issue for 2 months.

I want 500 signatures for GM Chevy to do a recall

I am asking that GM Chevrolet do a recall on there Cobalt's because they have a power steering problem. The power steering randomly goes out and it unsafe. GM Chevrolet is refusing to do a recall even though over 200 Cobalt owners have reported having the same problem with their power steering. CONTACT JUDI GASTON AT WIS TV TO VOICE YOUR COMPLAINT jgatson@wistv.com OR Call her at 803-758-1268.

GM Chevrolet needs to take responsibility for this manufacturing problem before someone seriously gets hurt (3 deaths already) and having to replace the entire steering column which is very costly should not be paid by the consumer but by the manufacture. There needs to be a recall, so please sign this petition if you agree.

Go to this website to sign please!!!

    THANK YOU!!!

I accidently put automatic trans fluid in my power steering reserviour

Transmission fluid and power steering fluid are the one in the same. They are both hydraulic fluid. Only the red dye. Your vehicle will operate fine on transmission fluid in the power steering pump. Just don;t put power steering fluid in your transmission

the power steering fluid will go directly in the reservoir on the power steering pump under the hood. Hope that helps you.

I have a leak coming from the under the right side of my car and i am constantly putting power steering fluid and the low brake fliud light came on 2006 ford taurus

you have a power steering leak either the pump itself or one of the power steering hoses has a hole in it.the low brake fluid light is probably the fluid sensor in the master cylinder providing the fluid level is not low.the sensors tend to stick and need to be tapped or pushed with your finger until it frees itself.

power steering does NOT have an overflow it will have to be taken out ps fluid is usually red or sometimes a yellowish color. if its clear i would check brake fluid

I can't figure out where to put power steering fluid in my 2004 chevrolet malibu

the 2004 malibu does not have a place to put transmission fluid it has a electric power steering system and does not use fluid, if you are having a problem with the power steering light chimming and lighting up this is under a recall that chevy has obligated to fix. So if your car is doing this take it to your local chevy dealership and have them to repair it for you. Hope this helps.

The power steering light is on in my 2007 Pontiac G5 Coupe

  • You have Electric Power Steering (EPS) not the traditional power steering pump. So there is no place to put power steering fluid in your vehicle.

  • Hope this helps.
