I have a knock coming from my exaust

My exaust is making a knock sound and it sounds like it is coming from my catalytic converter, why would it be doing that? is it a hard fix? can it damage other parts ?

Noise from convertor means convertor broken inside the only thing to do is changing it and yes it can cause problem if it turn it might prevent exhaust to exit or empty it for now to see if its good but by law our supposed to have one thank you pierre

The inside of the converter is like a big honeycomb, and pieces of it have been known to break off & plug your exhaust, so I hate to say it but, if it's that rattling inside, get it off a.s.a.p. and replace it. Check on aftermarket exhaust places, you may get it quite a bit cheaper there.

It sounds like the cataltic converter is pluged and it is giving you fits this is a common problem due to all fuel contaning ethonal. Try taking the exaust apart before the cataltic converter. On the 4 cylinders it is that big can looking thing in front of the motor by the oil dip stick and the oil filter. On the V6 take it apart right after the front pipe and the rear pipe come together. If this is the problem the car will run but it will be a whole lot louder that normal. If this fixes it take it to an exaust shop and ask them to replace the converter.

If high mileaged could probably be a cat. But more liklly sounds like a sensor. Vibration from removal may have done something. But I wouldnt blame the shop for it. After all it is an older van

I may be wrong on this but I had the exact same vehicle come into my shop.Same issue.
It was not a lower end knock although it sounded as if it was.A catalytic converter breaking apart. they have issues with them.

you could have a loose vaccum line but doubt it because there is no power loss, but you do have an exaust leak either because you have a bad gasket between the resinator pipe and exaust manifold or you have a cracked exaust manifold. have a mechanic check this out..please rate this...thanks

Exhaust sysem i need a good size for more speed

just the exaust isnt going to make a huge difference but it will make some it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend
you could get new headers and run mandrel bent 3inch pipe all the way back using a flow through muffler (which one depends on what type of sound you want)
cherrybomb - deeper throaty rumble
or for a tuner ish sound a skunk2
also dont install a catalytic converter (if state legal) and if you do install a high flow model
