Hi so I have a Honda Accord 98. I been driving it for a while now an just last night I went to turn around somewhere and the car would say it went into reverse but made this horribly loud sound and...

SOUNDS LIKE TRANNY MAY BE GOING OUT, BUT HAVE SOMEONE CHECK FLUID LEVEL FIRST, THE CAR USUALLY HAS TO BE WARMED UP FIRST. YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE IT IF LEVELS ARE LOW. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU USE CORRECT FLUID IN TRANNY IF IT IS LOW,DO NOT SUBSTITUTE FLUID.SOMETIMES WHEN LEVELS OF THIS FLUID ARE LOW IT WILL CAUSE TRANNY TO RUN ERRATICK

Manual transmition hard in reverse

manual transmissions have slave cylinder that requires DOT 3 brake fluid, there is usually a half dollar sized reservoir near the brake master cylinder. if your fluid is low you will have trouble getting it in gear and in time burn up your clutch. also consider having your trans fluid flushed and adding an additive, it's not expensive on a manual trans. :)

Eclipse goes into reverse but wont go in drive.

Friend, start the engine and let it run a few minutes to warm the trans fluid, set the park brake or block the front of the wheels, put the car in drive position and check the transmission fluid. Sounds like it's just too low for the pump to pick up enough for a forward engagement. Reverse doesn't take much to activate the servo. Most automatics are this way. I'm sure you'll find the fluid is way low and needs the proper fluid added. This may mean you have a slight trans fluid leak.

Hi, I have a 1995 volvo 850 with automatic tranny...all forward gears work fine but reverse does not engage unless you stick your foot out the door and roll the car back 2-4 feet then you can feel reverse...

check the transmition fluid level, ( do this with the engine running & the selector in P) if low top up & see if fault cured
also check fluid is no dis-coloured or smells burnt, if so you may have to drain the transmition & change the filter & fluid, a transmition flush would be a good idea.
if the problem remains it is most likely the seals/clutches in the transmition are worn

Transmition not shifting

HI. I would check the TCM(transmission control module), this device transfers the initiated actions from the shifter to the solenoids in the transmission. if the TCM is good, i would check the solenoids in the transmission pan to see if they are working properly. Depending on the model, your transmission may be sealed but, if it isn't, i would recommend checking the fluid level as well.

Please rate and have a great day:)

Transmission is slippin

It may be as simple as adding tranny fluid or an indication of major tranny issues. Try the fluid first, because if your tranny goe kaput, you'll need more than online tech help. Get in for a look around.
