in regards to 2005 cobalt engine light, forgot to mention just filled up with gas 2 days before the problem started and also the oil life on dash shows 54% life. Could it be something other than the catalytic converter? Also just got car back from shop due to accident where radiator was replaced as well as the back axle and other pieces and parts.

You need to Replace the Catalytic Converter. That is what you are Smelling. It has Clogged up and will also Cause the Light on the Dash Problem. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Nope, It is the Catalytic Converter. The Smell that you smell Only comes from the Sulpher Content in the Converter and will cause the Above Problems.

I have a 2005 chevy cobalt, and it has been driving fine until a couple of months ago. One day it just started shaking and my engine light started to flash on and off. I got it checked out and they said it...

It sounds like the catalytic converter might have come loose causing a loud exhaust leak. Did they repair the problem that caused the converter to plug up like a defective oxygen sensor or coil pack?

Loses power shuts off and blinking engine light

Fuel pump may be giving out or fuel filter is clogged or if your car has a regulator, that too may be going bad. Check all three or have someone do it for you.

2001 Tahoe: Hard to start, idles rough, check engine light on.

Flashing check engine light is missfire, fuel pump probably causing multiple tries to start.Having to build fuel preasure, vac leak on one side of intake probably causing rich/lean condition. Also check back preasure to cat ,Sound like you are moving down right track.Mas air flow would probably set lean code bank1 and lean code bank2

make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

You need to get the computer scanned. This can be done at Auto Zone or similar parts stores free of charge. More than likely you will just need new spark plugs and/or plug wires but I cannot be certain without the engine code.
Hope this helps, remember to rate this answer.
