Power Window Motor Stopped

How the heck do I get the trim panel off to get to it? I have the door panel off and the window on track, but how do I keep it from coming out of the clips that hold it up. Is there some type of glue or another clip that holds it in place if you roll the window down or back up. It keeps coming out.

    Ok,

I have the silicone adhesive, am I supposed to take the hinges off and put the windows in it after applying the adhesive. The adhesive is all over the place, windows and my hands.

  • zaki01 Feb 01, 2009

Now I'm frustrated and the power lock button is not going back in correctly, how do I line that up to work properly? I'll take the truck to a facility somewhere but the door wont open from the outside.

Id get some really good adhesive and run along the track and then seat the glass in it. RTV sealant would hold it forever and it sets up pretty fast

Welcome to Fixya! You can use Clear Silicone Sealant on this to Hold it in Place. Roll the Window all the way up for 24 Hours at Least before using so it has Time to Dry. Should fix this for you. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

How do you get the driver's door latch out past the window guide?

Remove all screws around the outer edge of the door panel. Carefully pry off the decorative cover behind the door handle and remove the torix screw. Lift up firmly on the door panel to remove. To reinstall, line up molded plastic hooks on back of door panel with notches in the door, push down to secure, reinstall torix screw, decorative cover and screws.
Also before you lift away the panel, you'll need to undo the electrical connectors for the power window and door locks

It is best to get the whole power window regulator assembly from the junkyard, which includes the power window motor. Cost should be no more than $40. Remove interior door trim panel by removing all screws and pulling up on the door panel. Unbolt existing window regulator assembly and slide guides from aluminum window track (you will have to uncrimp one end of track). Installation is the reverse of removal (remember to recrimp aluminum window track after reassembly). I did this repair in 45 minutes, power window worked like new. Good Luck!

Need to access power window motor . window won't roll up.

Remove inner door trim panel. Remove plastic insulation. Wedge or duct tape your window. So when you separate the window and its tracks, It wont slide down and break. Remove window regulator and tracks
then start separating the window motor from the tracks.
Test for power and ground first and the connector and the switch. Before you condemn the motor.

My window is off track. motor is still working.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you'll be able to get to the tracks. You may need to get some replacement clips to remount the window to the track
