Question about 1985 Nissan 300ZX

Cycling Climate Contol Unit

In my 1991 Nissan 300ZX the climate contol unit continually cycles on and off. The actual controller in the dah loses power and regains it every 2-3 seconds. (the entire digital display goes black) and the blower stops and then restarts. It does this regardless of if the AC, heater, or econ is on. Additionally. I have lost power to the interrior convenience lights and the map lights and the radio power starts the radio and raises the power antenna 2 inches and then drops out. any ideas where i should start my search?

Go to an auto parts store and have them check you battery and alternator!

Dual climate control on these is not a manual valve adjuster. It is done electronicly with a electric motor on a valve instead of ran by a maual cable. Find this and check the plug for a 12 volt signal. If you are getting a signal replace the valve, if not it could be a blown fuse, cut wire, or a bad climate contol switch.

When I turn on my climate contol unit my truck squeals, idles and I can smell something burning ...and I just had my altenator changed

I would suspect the AC compressor is locking up and not turning. The squealing and the smell would be the belt getting hot.

Climate control want work

Your EAC has self diagnosis by flashing symbols on the display panel,When a fault is detected the control will flash the appropriate symbols, This climate control is based on rapid a/c clutch cycling,if a fault is detected from the a/c clutch it will be disabled for all ignition cycle, remove battery power this will temporaily restore a/c operation ,if there is a rapic a/c cylcle the system will disable a/c operation,or if the a/c clutch is shorted, open,or grounded you will have no a/c operation

Heater Motor Speed Controller location lincoln town car 2000

I would check that the blower motor speed controller under the hood is getting a signal from the climate control. The speed controller will be a lot less expensive and goes more often then the climate control unit in the dash...

zjlimited_1133.jpg

You should really test the signal from the climate control to the blower speed control; if I where to try something I would go with the blower motor speed control... it may be called the blower resistor if you call for the part just make sure it matches up with the one you have on the car.

Good luck.

Climate contol does not light up.

Unfortunately the bulbs that light up your climate control are not replaceable and in order to get it to light back up again you need to replace the climate control unit.
