1995 Buick Lesabre Speedo inop

Codes P0705 P0502 P1629. Speedo was intermittent, now inop.
I replaced the speed sensor and the Trans position switch(neutral safety). Still inop. when the speedo works, the trans shifts perfect.
With the speedo inop, get check engine light and trans goes into limp mode(2nd and 3rd gear only) All wiring has been checked and tested and is good.
I'm leaning toward the PCM.
Any help would be great Thanks

Replaced the PCM and everything works great.

I had checked all the wiring and replaced all avilable sensors.

These are OBD 1.5 OBD 1 computer with an OBD 2 plug. A pain to read codes on and known to have PCM problems.

Thanks for the help, but your answer was of no help to me.

The exciter ring is located under the speed sensor .take your sensor back out put your finger in the hole if the plates move back in fourth to much ---they should be tight.then the final drive unit is out in the trans,if good buy a pig tail and rewire at the sensor.last option is a bad ecm.this is all related to the speed sensor .705 502 are speed sensor codes 1629 is a false code i hope this helps thanks for choosing fixya .

It may be a faulty speedometer with a short inside, or a short on speedometer wirings or connector.

Whenever car vibration cause the wiring to short, there you lose speedometer and trans functionality.

You need to access the speedometer connector and wirings to
instrument panel to fix this.

1995 GMC Sierra 2wd - Speedo and tack stops functioning, intermittently. As a result trans is also malfunctioning.

Have the speed sensor checked on the transmission. I believe that truck has a 4L60E transmission in it. If so, the sensor is on the left rear of the case.

1995 buick lesabre Speedo inop

I would have the transmission shop check out the transmission.
The transmission may have a soleniod issue.

Intermittent Speedometer Operation

Your vehicle has the 4T60E transmission, and there is a speed sensor mounted on the transmission case that the vehicle's computer uses to compute vehicle speed, and relay it to the dash mounted speedometer. The best way to diagnose this problem is to first, hook up a scan tool that is available at automotive repair shops, and scan the vehicle for trouble codes first.Your vehicle probably has a stored trouble code along the lines of a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).After pulling codes,go to the data stream on the scan tool and look at the VSS signal that the computer is seeing, and when the speedo acts up,and stops working, look to see if the computer is seeing,a speed signal. If the vehicle computer is seeing a speed signal, then it's probably the speedo in the dash gone bad.If the vehicle computer is not seeing a speed signal, then it is likely a problem with the speed sensor mounted on the transmission,or the wires right before it.So,to diagnose really requires a scan tool, with a data stream,or you could just have the speed sensor replaced, and hope that fixes it.The speed sensor is located on the passenger side of the transmission, only accessible from under the car,but where the pass side axle actually goes into the transmission, the sensor is directly above that point, and retained in the case with a 10 mm bolt.It has two wires going to it.Good luck.
