Please be more specific,front axle nuts but which nuts ??the half shaft is held in by a horseshoe clip inside the diff unit,you must remove the diff cover,then remove a bolt that holds the planet wheels in place.remove planet wheels and planet wheel shaft to gain access to the clip.Silly design i know,have no end of problems here in spain with the annual vehicle inspection over the fact that wheel moves in and out on the plates in floor at the station that checks the running gear.I always end up welding the grove in then recutting it again with a small angle grinder.Yes i know its a bodge and its not recomended by the dealers but these shafts are slightly expensive here,

1992 f150 front axle to diff. seal replacement


OK, you must remove the front axle assembly to access the axle flange and then the seal, follow the instructions at the link but once the axle is out remove the axle flange from the front diff and replace the axle seal, use a seal driver and lube the new seal with lithium grease (white grease). You will need an air impact to get the flange nut off, replace it with a new one (do not reuse) and do not over tighten it. Cinch it down and then go about 1/8 more of full nut rotation to preload carrier bearing setting then spike in place. Ford F150 Front Axle Replacement Part 1

to remove front axle.to loosen front axle nut leave vechicle weight on wheel then just loosen front axle nut because axle nut torque at 217 ft lbs torquehard to loose axle nut with vechicle weight off wheel.okay. you need a 1/2 breaker bar and axle socket to loosen axle nut dont use 12 points sockets need go auto parts store buy right socket for axle nut.okay when you loosen front axle nut you need safely raise support vechicle. need to remove wheels remove fender apron seal remove transaxle fluid remove transfercase oil if you have 4WD.remove hub nut remove stabilizer bar link remove speed sensor remove tie rod end remove lower arm from the ball joint then slide the halfshaft from the hub then carefully pry the shaft from the transaxle.then install new front axle push in make sure front axle snap ring on front axle snap in place inside transmission just pull a little on front axle make its in place. when all done tighten front axle much as you can then when done putting every thing back in place.lower vechicle need torque front axle nut to 217 ft lbs.

I cant get the axle nut off to take the roter off the front wheel


A large breaker bar and deep well socket is required to get the axle nut off. They are torqued down very tight-about 150 ft. lbs. Easier to loosen the nut sith the car and wheel on the ground, then you can raise the car, remove wheel, remove the nut and washer, and get to the rotor.

remove the right front wheel. remove the axle nut. remove the ball joint bolt and nut. remove the ball joint from the knuckle. drive the axle out of the hub. remove the 2 carrier bearing nuts. pull the axle out. make sure you torque all bolts and nuts.

Dana 50 Front Axle

Observe the following torques;

* Left and Right drive axles-to-cross member: 120-150 ft. lbs. (163-203 Nm)

* Axle arm-to-radius arm: 180-240 ft. lbs. (244-325 Nm)

* Coil spring insulator: 30-70 ft. lbs. (41-95 Nm)

* Upper spring retainer: 13-18 ft. lbs. (18-24 Nm)

Observe the following torques;

* Drive shaft-to-flange: 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm)

* Track bar nut and bolt: 160-200 ft. lbs. (217-271 Nm)

* Stabilizer barU-bolt: 50-65 ft. lbs. (68-88 Nm)

Removal & Installation To Remove:

  1. Remove the front wheel.
  2. Remove the front axle hub nut.
  3. Disconnect the front stabilizer link from the strut.
  4. Disconnect the speed sensor (with ABS).
  5. Remove the front brake caliper and rotor.
  6. Disconnect the tie rod end.
  7. Remove mounting bolts and nut and separate the lower control arm from the ball joint.
  8. Using a plastic hammer separate the front axle shaft from the hub.
  9. Remove the 2 mounting bolts from the strut. Remove the knuckle and hub assembly.
  10. Remove the lower ball joint from the knuckle.
  11. Remove the axle hub snap ring from the knuckle. toy_car_cor-02-04wheelhub2.gif

  12. Remove the axle hub from the hub bearing using special tool 09520-00031 or equivalent hub puller.
  13. Remove the inner race from the axle hub using special tool 09950-40011 or equivalent puller.
  14. Remove the dust shield from the knuckle.
  15. Remove the axle hub bearing from the knuckle using special tool 09520-00031 or equivalent and a press.
To Install:
  1. Install the axle hub bearing on the knuckle using special tool 09950-600020 or equivalent and a press.
  2. Install the dust shield on the knuckle with 3 mounting bolts.
    • Tighten 73 in-lb (90 Nm).
  3. Install the axle hub on the knuckle using special tool 09950-600010 or equivalent and a press.
  4. Install the axle hub snap ring.
  5. Install the lower ball joint on the knuckle.
    • Tighten the ball stud castle nut 76 ft-lb (103 Nm).
  6. Install a new cotter pin.
  7. Install the knuckle on the strut with the 2 nuts and bolts.
    • Tighten 162 ft-lb (220 Nm) (except '03-'04) 113 ft-lb (153 Nm) ('03-'04).
  8. Lift the knuckle and hub assembly over the axle shaft and into the hub splines.
  9. Install the lower control arm on the lower ball joint.
  10. Connect the tie rod end to the knuckle.
  11. Connect the stabilizer link to the strut.
  12. Install the front rotor and brake caliper to the knuckle.
    • Tighten the 2 caliper bolts 79 ft-lb (107 Nm).
  13. Install the ABS sensor if equipped.
  14. Install the front axle hub lock nut.
    • Tighten 159 ft-lb (216 Nm) and stake the lock nut.
  15. Check the axle hub backlash and run-out.
  16. Install the front wheel.
  17. Check the front wheel alignment and adjust if necessary.

Removing front rotar


rotar doesn't contain the studs, the plate/hub behind the rotar does - you need a 32mm socket to undo the axle nut to then get at the hub (need a flat screw driver to lever the nut tang up first). If it's seized on put the rotar and wheel back on (leave the axle nut off) and gently rock it in a top-bottom motion (not radially or axially) to free it up. you can then gain access to the hub and studs. put the wheel nuts back on the studs 2 -3 turns so that you have a 'seat' and using a bolt with a smaller dia to punch them out

Upper and lower ball joint replacement


to remove the axles, remove brake caliper and disc, remove hub assembly, the center hub/axle nut and...(there are i think 3-4 bolts on the back side of the spindle to remove the hub), you may have to force the hub off the spindle with a hammer or air hammer... once the hub is out the axle should slide out of the front differential allowing access to the ball joint nuts for removal...
