The easiest way is to pop the bonnet.when its open the alarm wont arm.i just mean release it not fully open it.the problem is caused by a leak through the pollen filter housing .if you want to fix it remove housing and seal with dumdum or similar sealer.then you will need to lift carpet to dry out.

Bonnet popping did not work for me on 2001 Passat TDI. But leaving door latched stopped alarm activating and allowed doors to be locked. Good temporary sol;ution for me. till I get the pollen filter fixed.

Vw passat 2006 slow to start this morning and this afternoon alarm went off when i locked the car and took 10 seconds to stop

Sounds like the battery or a short in the battery line. The VW alarm will come on if you disconnect the battery. Use a voltmeter (or mutlimeter) to check the battery voltage (red lead on positive pole; black on negative; range on 0-50V). When car is not running, you should see 12V; when car is running, you should see 15V (if the alternator is working). You can also test the battery charge by turning on the headlights. If they brighten when you rev the engine or if the dim when you turn on other electrical accesories, then it is likely the battery.

Sounds to me like you need a new ignition switch. Take the vehicle to a mechanic and have them further evaluate.

Alarm going off without interference.

Mine has recently started doing this. My temporary solution is instead of locking the car with the fob or key, go round to the passenger side of the car and press the door lock button. All doors should be locked and when you close the passenger door that should be locked too. In my experience that is the only way to fool the car into not activating the alarm.

Try carefully topping up the brake fluid, this can happen when the level falls as the pads wear down especially when cornering
