Steering Wheel wont lock on 2002 Chrvy Monte Carlo 3.4L

Well,
You will have to disassemble the steering column and remove yours key cylinder and have a new one made by GM .
The cylinder is where you put your key in to start.
That part has become defective

My directinals do not go on but my fuse is fine, what do i do, ? i cant find the flasher switch

The flasher - if available - is usually under the dash around the steering wheel or to the left, or on the side in that location. One other possibility is behind the glovebox or under dash in that location. Looks like a white or tin pot the size of a roll of quarters cut into 4, or about an inch or so high - just pull it out to remove but can only go in one way.
Could be the signal mechanism in the steering wheel which is an intricate process to replace the complete unit having to remove the steering wheel and other parts. Be careful as the wire leading to the horn must be pushed in-ward (into the steering column) and then twisted gently) and then it pops out, spring attached. A puller is probably necessary to remove steering wheel and then perhaps a plate with a spring under that which needs to be held down to remove a clip on the shaft. Take pics of the process in event of any confusion so you can put together properly.
Good luck.

Check other posts here on how to disassemble the steering column. Is typically the same for most vehicles but telescopic and tilt have their own problems.

How do i get a detailed diagram of the steering column for a 1986 monte carlo ss with consoul shift?

I would go to a nearby GM dealer and explain to them you want to buy column parts and would like to see an exploded view diagram to "shop" from.
They should be more then happy to print one off for you. Good luck

96 chevy monte carlo 3.1 wont start

check to see if the wire is broken for the passlock/passkey system in the ignition lock cylinder, its common for the copper wire to seperate inside the insulation, when you tilt the column it could have been pushing the wires together enough to touch inside the insulation

sometimes if the steering wheel is locked it won't come out of park try applying on the brakes and at the same time move the wheel back and forth and if this does not work and you have tilt it may be a problem in the steering column
