Question about 1999 Jeep Wrangler
I have a problem with a 1999 4.0 litre petrol jeep. one day while out it would not start. the battery was checked and replaced but the engine would crank but not run. After someone checking battery and alternator and leaving for several days the vehicle started with a charged battery. the engine will start ok when cold but not when warm. also the key symbol light flashes and the dash bleps 5 times. have tryed to get fault codes up on dash by turning ignition on off three/four times within 5 seconds but no codes flash or come in milage display.
To the answer you cant pull codes because you have the later obd system. ive got a 11/01 wrangler and i can pull codes on my odometer turning on/off the key 3 times in a row.

We replaced fuel pump in gas tank and it did the job, not too bad of a job. make sure you also change out the filter on the pickup tube, it's the only filter in the fuel system on ours.

The reason you can't pull codes is that you have the "later" OBD system which can only be accessed with a scan tool.
