Question about 2002 Toyota Highlander

1 Answer

The Malfunction light is showing on the dash of my toyota Highlander. According to the book it could be empty fuel tank (not), loose fuel cap (not) or automatic transmission problem. - How do I check the ATF fluid and how much should be in there? - Can I use multi-vehicle ATF fluid although it doesn't say T-IV but all the 'don't use for' options don't apply, so it seems ok - Do I need to drain and replace the fluid completely or can I just top it up.

In some cars , you have to take it to the dealer to check and service the transmission fluid. Don't ask me why. I think they are crazy. But I know there are some cars that only a dealer can check the transmission fluid. I think your may be one of them. Check your owners manual to see if it says anything.

Where is my Toyota Highlander 2008 fuel filter located?

This model does not have an external fuel filter, there is a permanent fuel filter inside the gas tank that is not serviceable unless you want to remove the gas tank.

In drive mostly and idle it sputters and as no power i have a new fuel filter not on yet but engine light finally came on after i got gas today was on emty

Check your engine oil and please put the new fuel filter on. Do not let your tank get empty if possible because you will get sediment from the bottom of your tank and clog up you fuel filter and cause the car to sputter or cut off. Make sure your gas cap is on tight after putting gas in you car. The leading cause of the check engine light is a loose gas cap according to car shops. Good Luck

Low Fuel Panel Indicator On

I know if your gas cap is leaking the low fuel light will come on but I never heard of the gas guage showing empty unless you have a float problem. The float is in the tank.

On dash board fuel empty light does no display but ABS display

the fuel light might possibly just be burned out, easy fix, the abs light could be because of low brake fluid pressure, or some other brake problem, hope this helps
