Question about 2003 Mitsubishi Galant

Galant timing belt

Can you send the diagram for replacing the galant 2003 4cyl engine alternator belt? I dont see a way to install this belt with out pulling the timing belt also. Can you email it to tonyhnguyen24@yahoo.com HUGE thanks if you can. Also, wouldyou know the exact name for this belt? I keep finding Timing belts and such, but there seem to be 2 belts off the crank, the timing one that goes to the waterpump and then the second smaller one that goes to the alternato.

ADJUSTMENT

Excessive belt tension will cause damage to the alternator and water pump pulley bearings, while, on the other hand, loose belt tension will produce slip and premature wear on the belt. Therefore, be sure to adjust the belt tension to the proper level.
To adjust the tension on a drive belt, loosen the adjusting bolt or fixing bolt locknut on the alternator, alternator bracket or tension pulley. Then move the alternator or turn the adjusting bolt to adjust belt tension. Once the desired value is reached, secure the bolt or locknut and recheck tension.

How do replace the water pump in a 2001 mitsubichsi galant

You have to take off the the steering pump belt, alternator belt, upper engine belt cover , support the motor, take off the right motor mount, take off the lower engine belt cover, take off the timing belt, and take off the water pump belt to get access to the water pump. Then be sure to put on all new belts when reassembling.

There is no "outside" adjustment.
This involves getting inside - to the Timing Belt and checking the Timing Marks and Belt.

I need to find a timing belt diagram for a 1994 mitsubishi galant

Your car will have the 2.4L SOHC engine in it (AKA 4G64). This manual will show you how to replace the timing belt (and more). Timing belt procedures start on page 33.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/4570538/Mitsubishi-4G63-4G64-Engine

(P.S. this manual also includes the 4G63 engine, you can identify your engine by looking at the procedures for the Single OverHead Cam[or SOHC])
