Hello, i have a 2001 Dodge Stratus, 3.0 and i have tried everything to make the service engine light to go off, but no luck. I took it to the mechanic shop they saw the code and told me that it's giving them the code for EGR and then they replaced that, but still the light is coming bak with thesame code. I went back they replaced the EGR again, saying that the EGR was defective, however, with no uck the light came back on, everything is fine with the car. always on time with oil change, got a new radiator, changed the hoses, cleaned the carbon buildup, new motrmouth, everything is almost brand new. Now they said that it mght be the sulenoinds and they replaced two of the three. Now im waiting for the 3rd one to be replaced. Please Help,, i cant take that service engine light anymore. Thanks
I've had the same problem with mine in the past,Replace the gas cap. Look to see if present cap has any cracks in the rubber seal, If so replace it and wait a few days for it to go out. And be sure it is on as tight as possible before the "Clicking sound starts..."

Transmission is in limp mode. This enables you to drive the car to service. Anytime there is a transmission code in the computer even if nothing is wrong it will stay in limp mode until the code is erased. Most retail auto parts stores will run an obd2 diagnostic scan to determine the problem and erase existing codes, no charge (Auto Zone, Advance and others)
Change all your relays, especially in the engine bay, check your idler control valve/servo for faulty or short circuited. Also check all the fuse boxes for contamination,Spray with circuit board cleaner or something similar.
It could be But my guess is it is the safety netural switch could even be a starter you can test it but you need jumper wires with aligator clips, you can try turning on the lights and turn the key switch over and if the lights dim slightly then it means it is making contact and pulling volatage but not starting, if the lights don't dim slightly then it could be the safety netural switch. If you can work with jumper wires and a couple safety stands I can help you test it.
Or maybe the recall on the fuel return line

Also try disconnecting the battery cables to clear the codes. If they come back then try the Autozone route for a free diag. If you come up with a code we can help you in determining what needs to be replaced. I sell parts at a Chrysler dealer and I have access to all kinds of info on these like codes and frequent problems and solutions.
check you owner's manual in the maintenance section. there should be a way to reset this reminder light after maintenance is performed. Maybe someone else on this site has a similar manual and can help you.
