Power steering leak

Looks like it is your High Pressure power steering hose gone bad, it will squirt more fluid as you turn the steering wheel. Replace as soon as you can, if that fluid lands on the engine it can easily ignite a fire under your hood, happen to me some time ago when my car began to leak power steering fluid from the high pressure hose and the oil got all over the hot engine, it ignited causing a engine fire. Power steering fluid is very flammable and dangerous when it is close to excess heat from the engine. Most power steering systems have a low and high pressure hose, the high pressure hose takes tremendous hydraulic pressure every time you turn your wheels.

Check under hood for power steering belt damage.

Check for power steering fluid leak on the floor

Check high and low side power steering hose for damage (crack)
Check the component(s) adjacent to the PS pulley and hose for sign for PS fluid.

Top off the ps reservoir and recheck for leak(s)

I hear a roaring noise when I turn.

Is the noise coming from your power steering pump which is under your hood, or from down by one of your front tires? If the noise is coming from under your hood you may be low on power steering fluid and you can probably get rid of the noise by simply adding some fluid to your pump. If the sound is coming from one of your front tires you may need to have a wheel bearing replaced. I hope this is helpful.

My 2001 bmw 325 cic started making an awful grinding noise today when moving the steering wheel at all to the left or right. Can also hear the noise under the hood.

It sounds like your car is low on power steering fluid. When the power steering fluid is low, the power steering pump is running dry, which makes a grinding or moaning sound. Check the power steering fluid level and top up if necessary. It should be on the left side of the engine compartment. Your owners manual should have the exact location of the power steering reservoir, and what type of power steering fluid to use.
Good luck

When I turn right or left, a moaning sound emanates from under the hood of my 1989 Mercury Marquis. Is my power steering pump failing? Where do I check the power steering fluid level?

The sound should indicate low fluid. Your power steering fluid should be red...may look black depending on how old. Your manual will tell you where to fill.

POWER STEERING AND HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION

You need to check the the power steering resevior located under the hood, the fluid level may be low, and a possible leak, if low you will need to add some power steering fluid, the fuel consumption maybe in need of a tune-up oil change, spark, plugs, fuel filter, air filter.

Sounds like a rattiling noise under the hood when im in idle but when i trun the wheel it makes a grugng sound

ck the power steering fluid level, it may be low. If it is low, you need to find the leak. Most of the time a power steering leak is the high pressure hose. You may use Automatic Trans fluid, but power steering fluid is better to use. unless your owners manual states otherwise.
