Question about 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

1 Answer

When I start my car, if I can rev it above 2100 rpms, I know it will run, but sometimes I start it and it won't go above the 2100 rpms and if I try to drive it, it chugs and forces me to gear up to smooth out. I turn off the car and sit and try again until it will rev up. Lately while driving, the rpms my go down below the 2100 and I have to pull over. Turn it off and sit and wait until I turn it on and it will rev. When others drive it, it doesn't act up. I have been stranded a few times when trying to leave work, but it always would fix itself. Could it be my spark plugs? I have already spent 200.00 and they couldn't tell me what was wrong. It is a 2004 PT Cruiser/ 4 cylinder, 6 speed. 2.4

Have your fuel pump pressure checked....It sounds like it overheats and needs to be tested.....Fuel filted may also be clogging.

I have a 2001 chrysler concord 2.7 with codes p-1684 and p1391 what are these codes

Purchase some Seafoam fuel system cleaner at Wal-Mart and run one can through 10 gallons of gas to clean the injectors. Also change the air filter. If it is dirty and stopped up it isn't getting air. You may end up changing the fuel pump itself. That would be my main idea of your problem here. The reason you can't get above the 4K mark is the rev limiter is kikking in to keep you from blowing the engine.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem, either the pump or the filter among other things.

2000 pontiac grand am 3.4 motor auto trans 4 door.Car starts and drives okay motor seems to stumble slightly between 3000-4000 rpms. with car stopped in park try to rev motor will only go between 3200-4000...

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. Good luck?

Its a 2.2 ohv and it runs like it has a bad miss it idles funny and kinda bogs down when i hit the gas but once above 2000 rpms it runs decent until about 3800 rpms then it sometimes starts to backfire

You didnt say if the check engine light is on? Take it to auto zone or advance auto parts store and they will plug it into diagnostic computer and let you know what sensor is bad for free. My guess? manifold pressure sensor. Good luck, dont forget to rate

My 2001 monte carlo misses out, no engine lite is on.

The rev limiter won't allow it to rev above 4000 in park. Will it go above 4000 on the road. Does it miss at ldle or under a load.
