Question about 1997 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

Running Rough My 1997 Ford taurus with d.o.v. has been running very rough lately. It barely runs when you first put it into gear and it does die sometimes. If you dont let it warm up for a few minutes before you put it in gear it will die. It also runs rough at stop lights. I have been told that it may be the EGR valve but I really am lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

Check all vacuum lines especially the one behind the throttle body and if it had been awhile with a tune up now is a good time to do also

My 1997 Jeep grand cherokee is running real rough when I accelerate. Now while driving it it keeps stopping but will start right back up? help???

check the cables of the spark plugs, some times it occurs that the cables get loose from its plastic retainers and touch any metal in the engine, causing missfire of the related spark plug, hence rough running of the engine. Put all cables on the retainers making sure none touches the bare metal of the engine. That should help.

My 97 ford f250 heavy duty has been idling rough alot lately. when driving, everything seems to be fine. coming to a stop, when i put the clutch in to take it out of gear, the rpm's stay high (around 1500)...

depending on which motor you have it may be a simple fix or you may have a cracked engine head. At a complete stop - turn on your A/C if it dies then I would be thinking cracked head. If it stays running then it is most likely either the TPS throttle sensor or the MAP sensor is very dirty and needs cleaned. You did not say how many miles are on this truck

check the egr valve it might be stuck open but if that is the case it should cause a check engine light to go on.

No check engine light on runs rough while in gear

Plug Mis-firing (firing-but not adequately) no light and no fire.
Causes: Spark plug bad, spark plug wire leaking.
If you can pull the spark plugs - and you find that one of them is wet or very dirty - compared to the others....the you have the wire/plug source identified.

Codes p0411,p0305

Check your air injection pump for a possile leak, or crack in the actual hose running from it. If it's leaking, it causes a reduction in flow to catalytic converter, thus sets that trouble code. As far as code 305 goes, is engine running rough, or have a miss?
