VIN 2gtek19t311235338. What is the front and rear differential gear ratios?

I can't tell you, though the dealer might be able to. Sometimes the vin will lead to the answer and sometimes it won't.

Often, if alternative ratios are offered and requested by the customer when the vehicle is being built the vin could lead to this information if it is not stamped elsewhere on the vehicle. GM tend to use a separate plate listing a number of codes that when decoded will indicate which options are fitted. Some Ford axles are stamped with the ratios but often a repair manual is needed to know where to search.

If alternative ratios aren't offered as options there is still likely to be some variation in the ratios used depending on a number of variables such as the equipment level, engine capacity and power output, the expected usage and the destination territory and whether manual or automatic transmission is to be fitted.
Often the only way to precisely determine the ratio is to expose the gears and count the teeth.

Want to change gears in rear end for posi traction in a 98 gmc25000 is this possible?

It is possible, you just have to know what gear ratio you have in your Sierra. I had issues with my son's rear differential and did the Salvage Yard and picked one up for $250.00 with less then 45,000 miles. Remember new cars end up at Salvage Yards also.

Here are the Pro code for the rear ends to your Sierra and you can match one up at a Salvage Yard.
GQ1 -- AXLE REAR, STD RATIO
GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
GT5 -- AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO
GU4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 -- AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 -- AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
G80 -- AXLE REAR, LIMITED SLIP (POSI TRACTION)

HC4 -- AXLE REAR, 4.56 RATIO

Open Your glove box and look inside it. Should be a list of codes on the bottom.
Example: GU6 G80 According to that, you'll have a 3.42 posi

Good luck and keep me posted and call around Salvage Yards, there prices will differ from one to the next salvage yard and don't ask them for a posi rear end. The cost will you more, just search all the SUV's and look at the pro codes in the glove box. Hunt, most awd system SUV will have the G80 rear end.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Decifering the "build" codes on Toyota Tacoma

I would call the dealer parts dept. they should be able to tell you what you need to know. there may be a difference in gear ratio for each engine/ trans combination. A salvage yard may be able to help you , they should have a computer system showing what rear is compatible. there should be a code on the axle housing itself.

Want to know if i can put a differential from a 2007 tahoe on mi 2003 denali xl mine is lock

Look in the glove box and look at the GM PRO Code sticker. Look for the codes GU1=axle ratio 2.41 GU2=ratio 2.73 ect up to GU6=ratio 3.42 or it may be GV which is the rear axle ratio codes. As long as the codes on the Tahoe matched the Denali your good to go. Good luck and keep me posted, If you'll like me to let you know your rear axle ratio and if it's a locking or not just ask, be glad to help

Differential ratio

To determine gear ratio, divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear. The total is expressed as a ratio: example # total= 3, ratio is 3 to 1. On a 4x4, this number must exactly match the ratio of the differential you are not changing.
In reality any differential can be installed in any vehicle providing that the ratios are correct. To install a complete axle assembly that was not made for the specific vehicle you have requires careful measurements regarding position of the differential yoke in realation to the driveshaft output on a transmission or transfer case, proper standing angle as well as length of axles and axle tubes. All can be modified to fit as necessary but the process is expensive. Typically, you can find a similar unit for your vehicle and match the ratio stamped on a tag found on the diff cover, but to avoid problems, always count the gear teeth and follow my instructions.

I presume you're asking if they will interchange? The 616 ASw tag number looks valid, that would be decoded,1996 year model.the 3rd 6 in "616" is the year model, and the ASw looks valid as the actual axle ratio code, which i will have to look up at work, but the second tag, recheck those numbers,i can't make any sense of them.
