Re: 93 bonneville security light flashing
Your key reader is not reading the chip in your key you can either replace the ignition switch cost about 250 dollars parts and labor or i can tell you how to bypass it for less than 20 bucks in premium chat hope this helps
How do I get into the steering column to get to the ignition switch? I want to check it out before I take it somewhere and buy MORE parts that weren't broken in the first place.. can anyone tell me how to get into it?

Not to insult your intelligence but is the shifter all the way in park? You may have an issue with linkage too. Or ignition switch needs replacement, (maxima's are also known for ignition replacement)
Other wise disconnect your car battery for ten min, just leave it sit, after ten min put ur battery cable back on, try ur key again.if you have a spare key work with the drivers door a little with locking and unlocking
try locking all the doors with the key .if that wont work.turn the ignition multible times on off ect.if that wont work disconect the battery.reconect and try it .the alarm is cuting youre fuel off good luck hope this helps you
The security system is keeping the engine from starting. In order to manually learn the security, you should try the following. With a fully charged battery, and all accesories, including headlamps, and dome lamp off, turn the key on, crank the engine for a second, then release the key. Leaving the ignition on for ten miniutes, the security light will shut off. turn the key off, back on, then repeat. This needs to be done 3 times, after 30 mins, try starting the engine. It should have relearned, and start up. Good luck...coop
Are you reffering to the alarm or the pass lock system that put the theft light on.....If its the alarm the put the key in the door and unlock it. If its the pass lock system put the key in the ignition and turn it on and try to start the vehicle. After it shuts itself off leave the key on for ten min until the theft light stops flashing the turn key off and try to start it again. This may take a few times....
Wow...this could be a BIG problem...unless you have pretty good mechanical abilities. Your BCM (body control module) is faulty. If it's any consolation, you're not alone. There are two schools of thought as a repair and often ends up being a "trial n error" type of repair. One is to match the rating of the small metal chip in your ignition key with a resistor (RadioShack) and splicing the resistor into the ORANGE wires leading from the ignition to the BCM. The other is to replace the BCM with a junkyard piece and IMPORTANTLY make sure you get the ignition key that goes with it. Good Luck

Chances are the wire going to ignition broke allowing the security to start flashing.this will keep the car from cranking. On my 93 bonneville I went to Radioshack and got a 680 ohm resister, cut the 2 small yellow wires on lower steering column under dash, soldered resister to the 2 yellow wires coming from harness.Cost of repair..$1. you can read the resistance on the key by using ohm meter on each side of chip in key
