I had a 1993, same engine, just reduce tension and slip it off. Come to find out with my 1999 model 88, Olds put the mount through it. I can't figure out how to remove mount without also removing water pump. This is rediculous!

Go to autozone.com. They have a section called Vehicle Repair Guide. In it, it shows a diagram and gives directions for replacing a serpentine belt.

Some of these have a motor mount that has to be removed in order to take the belt off. I am assuming that you have probably gotten that far and need to know why the belt is wrapped aroung this mount? Hope this is helpful.

How to put supertine belt on 2004 grand prix

Under the hood there will be a routing diagram for the serpentine belt. Use that as a guide for replacement routing. There is an automatic belt tensioner in the loop. Use an appropriate tool to release the tension on the old belt and remove it from the vehicle. Route the new belt as per the diagram and allow the automatic tensioner to re-tension the belt.

I have a 99 tahoe . This piece shakes when I put it in drive and reverse and sounds like it wants to shut off . What could it be

First of all that piece that you are looking at is the belt tensioner its only purpose is to maintain the supertine belt within the pulleys. that would not make your vehicle shut-off unless if not operational. The only time you want to change them is when they make a high pitch, it shakes very badly or the pully is cocked or uneven.

If the belt breakes your vehicle will ceased automatically and you will loose all power plus your steering etc... so that been said.. you need to look more in depth and isolate the problem. I hope I answer some of you questions. Take care and god bless you, always...

Install a altenator for a 2006 jeep commander

I would rate this a 5 in difficulty. If you have a metric socket set, basic hand tools and a supertine belt tool it's fairly easy repair. You can rent a surpentine belt tool at Autozone.

Disconnect the battery
remove the cowling
remove the supertine belt from the altenator pully
disconnect the red wire on the back of the altenator
disconnect the harness plug from the altenator
remove the bolts holding the altenator to the mounting brackets.
Reverse the process with the new altenator and it it's done.
Make sure your battery is charged before you start the engine a low battery can cause damage to your new altenator.

How often should you get engine belts replaced and what belts need to be replaced?

Replace belts as needed, check for cracks on the sides of the belts or pieces missing from belt. A good belt should last 100,000 miles. and it is a good practice to replace at 100,000 even if it looks good. REPLACE ALL BELTS as needed.

Supertine belt diagram Ford Escort ZX2 1999 Old brken off now replacing it with new but no picture or diagram showing how its to be installed properly.

If timing belt broke when the engine was running then a belt wont fix your problem as when the belt brakes the valves stop straight away and the crankshaft will still turn over at least 4to6 times adn in that time could AND would bend a couple of valves at least.if
not a lot more problems BUT if you still go ahead with fitting the belt then all the casings are marked to fit the belt and the keyway in crankshaft is always at 12 oclock to start with.. Ron

Supertine belt

For a 3.0 L engine. The belt positions are shown in the 1990 manual which can be found at some public libraries. The critical part is getting the cam shafts in the right positions and that is done by matching the markers on the toothed sprockets of each with those of the engine block. There is no room for a single tooth position out of alignment. Belt goes over the cam drums, under the water pump drum, outside the crankshaft sprocket, inside the belt tightener wheel.
