clean around the oil pan gasket area well as some oil leaks are actually rocker cover gasket and filter leaks that run down the block and appear as pan leaks.. Check front crankshaft seal as the oil from there also appears as a pan leak
The easiest way to do it would be loosen the transmission oil pan bolts on one side of the pan and work your way around each side of the pan working from one corner. As you work your way around fluid will start to leak from the initial corner. Let the fluid leak out until it is down to the level of the pan. Hold the pan up and finish removing the remaining bolts and then dump remaining fluid still in the pan. Change the fluid filter while you have the pan off and clean the pan and gasket surface and re-install the pan using a new gasket. Then fill with clean fluid and you are good to go.
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS,CAN BE FOUND AROUND PAN GASKET.CHECK PAN GASKET,IF IT LOOKS WET AND YOU SEE FLUID DRIPPING AROUND THE EDGE OF OIL PAN, REPLACE PAN GASKET, WHILE YOU REPLACING PAN GASKET REPLACE TRANSMISSION FILTER WHILE OIL PAN OFF.IF TRANSMISSION OIL PAN NOT LEAKING, CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES GOING INTO RADIATOR YOU WILL LOOSE A LOT OF FLUID THERE ALSO TORQUE SHAFT SEAL WILL CAUSE HEAVY FLUID LEAK WHILE ENGINE RUNNING CHECK OIL COOLER LINES AND LOOK AT THE TORQUE AREA WHILE ENGINE RUNNING YOU WILL SEE FLUID POURING WHILE ENGINE RUNNING THE OIL PUMP PRESSURE WILL PUSH FLUID OUT AT THE LEAKING AREAS.
Assuming you're talking about the lower oil pan...it's very simple
1. Lift at least the passenger front side of the car using a jack, jack-stand, and blocks on the rear wheels
2. Drain the oil out of the pan by removing the drain plug (just like an oil change)
3. Remove all of the bolts on the outside edge of the oil pan (should be about 11)
4. After all of the bolts have been removed the oil pan is free to come off. It might still be stuck on and a few gentle taps with a rubber mallet with knock it loose. Be aware that there is still some oil inside the pan, so this step will be pretty messy
5. Clean the surface of the engine where the oil pan was mounted against
6. Take your new oil pan and place the gasket around the rim of the pan (if not using a gasket then put liquid gasket around the rim. This is important to ensure the pan doesn't leak)
7. Place the oil pan on the engine and bolt it back on. Start by tightening on bolt, then one as close to 180 degrees across from it. Repeat until all the bolts are tightened.
8. Fill the oil pan with new oil. You may also wish to remove and replace the oil filter.
9. If you used liquid gasket, give it a few hours to set (look at contained for a recommend amount of time to wait). If you used a rubber gasket, you don't need to wait.
10. Start the engine and check for leaks. If you notice any oil leaking from around the seal then turn the engine off, go back to step 2 and then repeat from there on. If you don't see any leaks, you are good to go.
drain out hte old oil, Remove oil pan bolts, remove old oil pan gasket, install new gasket, install oil pan, tighten oil pan bolts to 17 ft. lbs. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN as this will distort the gasket and cause another leak.
yes and no, i wouldnt recomend it with aurora.. i had same leak from the oil pan and put in the bars and it stopped the leak for a couple weeks. after that it leaked the same as before. i would never use it again on any of my cars.. i had a friend put in new pan gasket and it stopped the leak... i believe this is pretty common with the aurora...is it 95?
