Oil and transmission levels and filters are fine. The car is a 1998 Saturn 4 cylinder DOHC engine with a 5-speed trannie. It has a linear EGR which I suspect is the problem. If not, I would guess the MAP.

will let you know after I get to a Dealer. Didn't suspect the CPU as the mileage is only 75,000.

I like your service and especially the immediate response! Will definitely recommend your service.
Certainly beats going to a repair shop for a diagnosis.

Put it on a computer reader. It sounds like a MAP sensor problem.

Hello there, i sense a cpu issue. your computer is experiencing a slow burn out. you should take it to the dealer or a mechanic for an analysis. its should come up as a cpu issue. this will ultimately go out if not fix sson. when your sevice light refuses to come on, this is a red flag for copmuter issues under the hood.

Make sure to check your oil and oil filter and/or the transmission fluid and transmission filter. I know it may cost some money, but those are vital necessities for your car that may cause that.

Why would the service engine soon light be flashing

Its telling you there's something wrong Tom!!
Look under the hood and do your drivers checks. Is there water in the rad header tank?
Is there oil in the engine?
Is the fan belt in good condition and tight?
When it runs is fluid dripping underneath?
When was it last serviced?

Have a good check around and get back to us.

High idle and no reading on temp gauge

check that there is coolant or fluid in the radiator as a coolant temp sender cannot read air as it is a vital part of the injection system for the ecu to know if the engine is cold and if sender relays no reading it is telling the ecu that it needs to ritchen the fuel mixture (possibally the reason for the fast idle) to get the engine up to normal operating temp as soon as possible.it you live in a really cold climate a thermostat that is jamed in the open position will cause it a long time to reach a warm reading. hopefully it is just the sensor wire off the coolant temp sender and by replacing it will return ever thing to normal

Buick idle at 1700 dies when putting it in reverse

Manifoild air leak causing engine to idle too fast. Check for air hose leaks. Some are palstic mated with rubber hose sections. Both can crack and leak.

If engine stalls when stopped at light, torque converter may not be unlocking.

1990 jeep wrangler runs rih won't stay running replaced map sensor and temp sensor

which engine,? the have up to 3 choices.
rih?
what are the full symptoms,
did you do the full listed 60k mile tune up on car?
sparkplugs, wire, cap rotor/filters? no engine runs right with bad spark
unless it's a diesel.
starts good
runs good or bad hot or cold engine
idle at 800 RPM hot?
stalls> when hot and cold engine
lost of power
bogging
misfire,
learchs>

only stalls , but runs perfect even up hills, at wide open throttle.
fresh gas, or 1 year old?fuel.
can your fast right foot , save the stall, and easily?

ok stalls 101.
1; lost 12vdc to EFI system.
2: lost engine compression.
3: lost spark.
4: lost fueling or floods
there is a simple test for each.
do you want more guesses, or how to do tests.
can do both, but my guessing fails 99 /100 times.

tune it up
do the right foot test. those are always first. on stalls.
always.

engine coolant temp sensor is most likely cracked.. I know it sounds strange but pull it if your looking at the engine it is on the right side of the head Will make the car hard to start, smoke, and the idle will often race up and down.. easy to fix 15 dollars or so..
