What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

No headlights only high beams

Both the low beam bulbs must be defective.
People at Jiffylube change headlight bulbs while you wait, if you are not up to the task.

How do i change a headlight in a 07 Jetta?

Low beams are the outside lights, and the high beams on the inside. Remove the rubber cap. Squeeze the metal clip ends together and pull away from bulb. The bulb comes right out now. Disconnect the bulb from the harness of two wires. The bulbs are round with a flat side that faces up...it will not go in any other way. Do not touch the new bulb with bare hands, or oil with get on the glass and cause premature failure.

Sounds like you need a bulb, the daytime running lights send power to the high beam wire so they look like low beam lights are on but really they are high beam lights running on low voltage.

Headlight low beam

Test to see if you have voltage at the bulb connector in low beam position. I'd almost bet that if there is no voltage there for the low beams that you have a bad high/low switch.
